from what i gather, that's all he made so far that year. he was not with us the whole time.

... i don't know how much he worked or didn't. at the time, according to him, he was at 11,800. and i'm positive he was telling the truth. a guy like that don't lie. i only knew him for about 2 months at the time.

i don't know.... i for one, believe him.

I get what you're saying, but I get PLAYER, too. She's saying that the kids that waited ended up being more successful THAN the ones that hadn't, but didn't assert that the other kids were objectively successful. Other than maybe the SAT scores, but 9% is just above marginal.

Apparently, for this type of study a 9% increase is signficant. Though I get the statistics, I am not a sociologist. I do know that on many large scale biological studies, differences of even 1% or far less can sometimes be significant. It depends on a lot of factors, but most important is the variation within the entire population of the tested group. When there is huge variation within a population, then it gets very hard to show any kind of overall change, because changes are overshadowed so heavily by the "within group" variation. A definite, across-the board change, then, even one that might superficially seem small, can be very significant indeed. To get the exact parameters, you have to look into some specific statistical tests. I don't have access to all the data to do that, even if I did remember all the tests off the top of my head. However, this study has been so widely analyzed and reported, its pretty safe to say that the increase they call significant is significant.

The problem with such studies is that Its pretty hard to control what happens to 4 year olds 20 years later. You are trying to criticize me, but this is a very well respected, widely reported and highly analyzed study. If you really care to delve into it, you might learn something.... as have about 2 decades of sociologists.

And yeah.. for you to say basically "player told me about this, so its stupid" ignoring the source, how the data was achieved and so forth does pretty well show a lack of education on your part.

I personally favor public funding of politicians and a parliamentary system. I think the two-party system sucks more than even the corporate funding of politicians.

yeah,

instead of 2 people on the ballot, there should be like 10-15. everyone likes choices.

it could be like a battle royale amongst the politicians.

just think of all the pandering and cheapshots that would take place.

then let there be 6-8 year terms. that way theres less campaigning and more of doing the job that you promised you'd do. and less a chance of pulling the wool over the sheeps eyes for the second term.

p.s.
this is not sarcasm, i'd really be for that.
