... Her answer was correct - increasing taxes on earners of 250K plus will hurt, but this is because more than half of small businesses in the US file taxes as individuals, not as corporations or LLC's, for "tax purposes" (or they just don't know how). Thus, jobs may be cut, costs to consumers will definitely increase, etc.. etc...

...

Wow, I'd like to see those stats....because most people that earn over $250K annually can afford a lawyer who would get them incorporated.

I really don't think the $250K+ earners will be hurt too badly by a tax increase.

I didn't watch the whole debate, it was a plodder. Comments afterwards were "Well, neither of them made any huge gaffs..."
We should be able to expect better than that.
And if Biden can't hit, with resounding success, the huge target that is the crap the US is in at the moment and the blindness of the powers-that-be to it until it dropped on their toe, when would he shine?
Having said that, it seemed to me from what I did see that Palin was concerned to project an image of herself and McC, while Palin showed rather more interest in actually debating. Palin's statements would not have changed appreciably if she'd been on the podium alone.

I don't get how anyone can say that Palin won the debate?

This poll must be a reflection of peoples unwillingness to ever comprimise. "Conservatives are always right." "Liberals are always right." This is exactly the attitude that put us in this mess. I don't get the poll results on CC.

Palin avoided pretty much every question. And the last half hour she didn't really answer anything. Ducking every question, and yet not falling flate on your face does not make you the winner of a debate. Saying "I'm from the Energy State," "McCain is a Maverick" "I don't know what I'm talking about," "Alaska has oil," and "I'm on the ticket" constantly is no way to win a debate.
I now know that I know more about this nation, and our foriegn neighbors than she does. And appearantly, I know more than 13 people on CC.

I think the problem is people's expectations before the debate.

Based on what I've seen/read, and my own thoughts, I expected Palin to be a D- and Biden to be a B.

Biden did very well, I thought, but he didn't blow me away. Thus I think he matched the expectation of a B. Palin, on the other hand, didn't completely f*ck up and ruin the campaign for McCain, so she probably got a C.

So when you throw in expectations Palin did very well, but still much worse than Biden. It's sad that republicans are "claiming a victory" because she didn't mess up.

So if everyone think syour a complete loser and actually you turn out only to be a bit of an ass, that makes you a winner. Makes perfect sense for someone who could be president in six months - better than the incumbent anyway.

I liked the part where she said that the Constitution gives the VP flexability to fall under the legislative branch. I was instantly angry. Then Biden qouted the Constitution straight from memory and I felt better.
But saying stuff like that really tells me that her VP-ship will be a world away from Cheny's........... NOT

Folks, she doesn't even know her Constitution. Conservative or not, she is going to be a bad VP. And McCain hasn't honestly shown his potential policies to be any different from Bushes. I just don't understanf this "vote for your side" mentality. She doesn't even know her constitution.... FAIL!

In all seriousness, I never want to hear a potential vice president give a "shout out" to anyone ever again. I winced.

... I didn't see the debate so forgive me if I'm off point here, but was she referring to the fact that the VP serves also as the President of the Senate? The position has no vote but for cases of breaking a tie.

... Or was she wandering aimlessly in another direction?

She definitely advocated more power to the VP several times.

No, she said that the VP-ship has 'flexible powers' under the Constitution. She also agreed with Dick Cheny that the Constitution puts the VP into the Legislative Branch, not the Executive Branch.

Biden disagreed completely and pretty much said what you're saying. The only real power that the VP has is to preside over the Senate.
I wish everyone could have seen it. She was so thankful that our fore-fathers put so much flexability into the office of the Vice President. She was talking out her butt.
