I am simply asking you to back up what you said to me? What you can't do that?

What is so bad about the writing, and what makes you think I haven't been outside America?

There is the America of our dreams and ideals.

Then there is the one written on paper, paper is law(thats the one that exists)"IN GOD WE TRUST"

I for one wont be so proud until its built on its ideals.

Clearly, what skittles is saying that there are so many more countries in Europe that better uphold freedom and democracy and that America isn't so great.

No, I'm not angry about a Patrioic American, I'm angry about the arrogant American's who think their country is the best country in the world. There's a difference.
When you're patrioic, you're proud of the country, and if your an extreme patriot, then yes, you would think your country is the best in the world. But when you go say it to everyone, you will obviously have a debate about it.

Rev.. I kinda wasn't meaning that, but hey, it could work. 8)

America is a country. No better and no worse than any other.

America's people are like the country. There are those that are decent people who in their own way do good things. And there are those who are wastes of space who just inspire negativity.

Thats it

Patriot defends his country from enemies inside and out
a Nationalist defends his country from enemies outside of it(were always right mentality)

You may not be the Great Satan, but your definately not the glowing beacon to the rest of the world that you like to think you are.

Btw, whoever wrote that thing about American people is really an idiot...

WooHoo! Britain is the best!
We are one of the oldest countries in the world, London has stood for nearly a thousand years, and for 900 of those was the largest city in the world. And our history goes back waaaaay beyond that. Also we had the largest empire the world has ever seen, and from 1945 onwards, we kindly decided to let it go.

I don't hate America, nor most Americans. What I do hate is the amount of secrecy involved in nearly every American Government decision - The FBI, CIA, are all involved. Everywhere you look you get the words: "confidential information". The world can't live with a country that keeps secrets from it's own people. Sorry.

And that's my opinion.
Thanks for listening!

I don't hate America as a country, rather, I hate what it has become in the past...lets say 7 or so years. As an American right now, I am extremely tempted to just pack my bags and move to Canada or Europe. I have last almost all feeling of pride in my country as these years have past, and they have been repalced by a feelings of shame and embarassement as to what it is now. I do wish, however that people take into account that I am not the only person like this in America. America is not just filled with a buch of patriot red-neck fat wack-jobs as is stereotypically thought by many, although I'm working on a theory that they might be the majority  . As the opinion about the Iraq War sours in America, it is becoming less and less of a patriotist country and I'm hoping that we can return to a state of somewhat normalcy as the years give way and the '08 elections near. I find it very interesting how in in most global political issues, America seems to counter much of the world in its opinion, only to realize that they were wrong a few more years down the line. For example: the motives for entering the Iraq war were wrong, and in issues on global warming. I can only hope as of now that we can change our act.

Gawd, how cliche and tiresome. Some of you people who are serious in this thread pay more attention to and devote more of your energy to thinking of Americans than Americans do themselves. A country, place, or person that isn't vitally important to you in some way doesn't warrant so much attention.

Thanks for the flattery. ... :D

BTW, it's always funny when Europeans and Canadians go out of their way to express disdain for American arrogance and misguided pride by...making certain to make a point of talking about their own superior traits.

I just cant stand all these anti-american people out there. What have we ever done to u or your country? Also have u ever actually heard an American saying, "my country is the greatest country in the world and yours sucks ass"? No you havent and if u have then u just ran into somebody on the internet who was bored and wanted to piss off some people for the hell of it.

Yes, I have heard someone say that...except since I'm American, they substitute, "France sucks ass" or "GB sucks ass" and it wasn't on the internet. My post about Americans really wasn't that negative, I gave America some hope with the '08 election. I said "I don't like what it has become", not "I don't like what it is" nor "what it has a chance at achieving". It has the power to do great good, just right now its not. If I was Iraqi I'd have an answer to your first question.
