Innocent curiosity, and a helpful reminder to everyone else that your opinion on American issues probably shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Ironically enough, sometimes outsiders see things in a far more objective light. That is true for many things, including, sometimes, policies in a country.

Like making biased value judgments on citizens of that country? Right.

I have lived in Canada all my life. I have been in the US many times. I have been exposed to US cable channels all the major networks all my life, over 40 years. I have been reading Newsweek and Time for as long as I can read.

Canada can not help but be influenced by the US. We share a 4000 mile border. The average Canadian knows far more about the US then the average American knows about Canada.

Mostly superficial information. But bias is in the eyes of the beholder when it comes to opinions. (as opposed to science facts).

Anyway, in this particularly case, I suspect you are correct, but I did not bother to read back through the whole debate. I just caught your line and it struck me as having many exceptions.

I think, to most, John has usually been unbiased, most of the time.

I can be biased at times (EDIT: ninja'd by Neo) but I will hardly ever call huge groups of people bigoted knee-jerkers. It sounds ignorant, especially coming from someone who doesn't live here. I'm still not sure whether you were serious or not.

I was tied for first for least least respected poster, therefore I have authority over such things.

We're all biased, no matter how much other people like us.

I guess the Democrats didn't want to publicize the drastic harm their health care law is already causing:

Oh please, as if the bill that arose after the entire Republican party just about dug in its heals and whined for changes is really the Democratic bill.

In fact, it did not even go as far as the previous Republican attempts.

The bill was passed with 0 Republican votes and was modified only to get Democratic votes. Those facts are irrefutable, so stop trying to rewrite history and blame the horrible law on the Republicans.

Yes, but the filibuster (by Republicans) made it so that we needed to get 60 votes. That made this Joe Lieberman's bill. Who, as we all know, is not a Democrat. Regardless, even if all Republicans had just voted "no" but allowed debate to open and allowed the grown-ups to talk about it on the floor, it would be a better bill.

If the President and the Democrats in Congress had agreed to scrapping the bill and redrafting one, I think it would also have been a better bill.

How about a bill ordering the death of half the American population? No Republican would have voted for that one. Those biased Republicans.
