I mostly meant culturally.

I answered Yes, although I think the question is too complex for a simple yes/no answer. I think we are very similar culturally in that sections of America are very similar to sections of Canada. We have our own midwest, our own oil tycoons, our own have and have-not states, our own retro-counter-counter-culture, our own melting pot cities, etc. Sure, us Canadians have a few items of memorabilia which we can lovingly claim as our own, like our love for Hockey, healthcare, and hairy beavers but essentially there is no cultural border to speak of between our two countries.

Yes, yes, yes. This what I'm saying. But let me tell you, about hairy beavers...

So far as the animals, Oregon IS the Beaver State.

Also, I think something that really sets the US apart from Canada is our huge-o Latino population, and rural blacks in the South. Very culturally distinct groups that don't have equivalents, really, anywhere in the world.

Was Canada the one they annexed after Texas, or before?

I have never seen a beaver in my life except for in a zoo. I thought I saw one up in Muskoka once but it was just a duck floating around with its ass in the air. :(

You see, you could have done that if he had said Mercia, but he didn't, he said 'merica. See the little '? Ya... That means that the ' replaces a letter. In this case, an A.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

This thread is about CANADA! The country that proudly bears a maple leaf on it's flag! Not the land down under (don't make me give you more of those special Oysters).
