Velicka, Boyd.

Velicka is on fire at the moment. waited a long time for him and Hemdani was on the bench, 1st time this year. not played since the UEFA Cup Final. Edu seems to be a really good young ,strong player. :D

That's what you get for winning some games! Your supposed to lose in Europe, remember? ;)

Arsenal 1-3 United

Lovely! Great performance, had huge slice of luck when Gibbs slipped to let Park in for our first goal but f*ck all wrong with Ronaldo's two goals.
Fletcher was quite harshly done by to get straight red though, I accept it was a stupid tackle and a clear penno but surely only warranted a yellow.
On to the final for second year in succession!
We've a better chance of beating Chelsea but still hope we get Barca 'cos win or lose it'd be a far better spectacle.

Seemed a bit harsh to give him the straight red considering he did get the ball.

Still a really good result, the Champions League crew were giving Mr. Wenger a pretty rough shake by the end of it.

Atrocious refereeing. 4 clearcut penalties not given. That game was wholly Chelsea, and if the ref wasn't so atrocious could've easily been 5-0. But then a last gasp goal.

I guess that's football sometimes for you. *sigh*

Yep, them's the breaks...
I'm amazed how Barca were made to look so ordinary, especially after their 6-2 trouncing of Real at the weekend. Chelsea were far and away the better team over the 2 legs. On the evidence of this semi-final, United should have more than enough to defend the title. UNITED!!!!!!! :D

Pretty bullshit but hey-what can you do.

They got incredible lucky, with a massive boost from the ref. We were robbed, that's all I can say.

EDIT: sam when you do stop laughing imagine for a second Arsenal was beating Man u. I know it's a big stretch, but hey one day it might happen when you are semi-competent. And you get screwed over by the ref. Over and over again. Not particularly funny is it? Especially if Man u then scores in the dying minutes and wins.

Hilarious stuff, really. What should happen is video refs should finally be introduced like in every other popular sport-rugby, tennis, cricket, it's time for football to catch up.

Reduce it. Have each captain have 3 appeals each. Maybe only for potential red cards, or potential penalties. Slowing down the game will be worth it. Not only will it only slow down the game as much as a substitute, it is time for that.

Yesterday's match showed exactly how an incompetent ref can change just decide the entire game. We've all seen this, we we've seen matches ruined by penalties that should not have been given, no penalties to penalties that should have been given, red cards for nothing, cheats getting off without cards.

This won't stop all diving, but it will help a lot. Not only will the divers hesistate, knowing that their actions could be reviewed, but the divers will know their actions will not work. Also it will put the game much more on the actual teams, and not decide them on a human error.

Soccer is the sport which can be decided most by referee mistakes. Basketball, rugby, they're all higher scoring games where a ref mistake could easily not matter as much among all the other goals. Tennis and cricket too, only the most convoluted scenarios could produce such an effect. And yet the sport that needs the ability to refer to videos most, is missing it. Other sports are using it, football has to adapt too.

That's a really good idea, it'd bring a tactical aspect to when you appeal and when you let it go.

Sadly, Sepp Blatter said a few years ago that video technology would never be introduced while he was FIFA prez.
Boggles the mind really but there it is, no matter how many of us agree that vid tech should be used he's still the "one man, one vote" who counts.

Illy you may of made a good few points. i like the one about slowing the game down a bit. if a football match lasted like 3 hours(still 90 mins play though) the Wanks/Yanks may watch it more. :D

oh and never call it "soccer" Illy. i know you have Aussie rules and call that football.

Bad habits really. It used it to be called soccer until recently it rightfully changed to Football. Sometimes "soccer" creeps back in.

Serves em right for their (Chelsea) disgraceful gamesmanship tbh. They only had so much injury time to score in due to Drogba constantly limping on and off the pitch and rolling around in agony as usual. And sitting back and letting Barca have the ball when you're a man up... suicidal

BTW anyone notice at the end Drogba couldn't be budged by about five of his team mates trying to push him away, whereas in the area if a defender so much as breathes on him down he goes :D

Haha...now you come to mention it..............

In other news(the real world of football).....the situation at Stockport is thus.....

The administrators at Leonard Curtis are continuing ongoing discussions with a number of credible interested parties, and remain confident of progressing matters in the short term.

It is regrettable however, that due to funding constraints during the administration period, it has been necessary to make a number of redundancies. Following the conclusion of the playing season, the number of coaching staff has been reduced and regrettably cuts include the manager, Jim Gannon.

At a protest staged outside the ground today by upset and confused County fans, it was also revealed that Peter Ward and Alan Lord have resigned from their posts with immediate effect, and Chief Executive Sean Connelly has been made redundant.

It is hoped that these cost reductions will enable us to preserve the club in the short term and secure a buyer in the near future.

Its a bloody shame.

Sad to here it, never like to see a small club in trouble, except Rangers of course ;) Which I'm sure we wil lsee tomorow!

As for video refs, I agree but some of those desisions were very close last night, can you imagine if Chelsea had claimed on 3 of those penalties and the ref stuck by his call on all of them? Wouldn't you just be more pissed off?

we just did not turn up. Elano had a chance on 3 mins and pulled his shot badly. then early in the 2nd half Robinho should of done better with his chance. :(

might have been a little interesting if Robinho doesnt do awfully with the chance, cause City were doing pretty well for decent chunks of the 2nd after getting smacked around in the first.
