It's only a foul to challenge the keeper when he's in possession of the ball. And Foster never was.

The Laws of the Game wrote:A goalkeeper is considered to be in control
of the ball:
• while the ball is between his hands or between his hand and any
surface (e.g. ground, own body)
• while holding the ball in his outstretched open hand
• while in the act of bouncing it on the ground or tossing it into the air

Nah, just watched it again on MotD2 (ah the joys of sky+) and going by "The Laws of the Game" the ball only needed to be between one hand and the ground and it clearly was! if you're trying to say he at no point even had one hand on it you're way off...

Also, again according to MotD2 owens goal went in 1 second after what they timed the extra bits adding up to, as I put earlier, that's not far off!

To stop this petty little fanboyism, im going to tell you all a very short story.

A few years ago, before circumstances meaned i no longer see my family, i was becoming quite close to my grandad. He was 72 at the time when i used to be picked up by him from school(i was about 13) and used to go to his house to see him and grandma. Unfortunatley just as we were getting close and actually finding out things about each other, he had a stroke, and went blind. He slowly lost memory, hearing, and everything and it was heartbreaking to see. I remember crying after i saw him one time, and a woman, obviously thinking someone has died already, simply popped a lollipop into my hand on the way past. He always wanted to see his daughters marry, one died before, one said she would never get married and the other was my mum. She married(abeit into what turned into an abusive relationship) a matter of days before he died, yet he could not go due to the stroke.

The reason im telling you this?

Before he had the stroke he used to talk about football being football, proper football, not "using light balls, kicked about by over paid foreigners" and his club? Accrington Stanley. He gave me something, which i wont disclose on here, that he loved, to do with his club. I still have it to this day. All im asking for is spare all you can for Accrington Stanley, who need to raise £308,000, below the weekly wage for John Terry and Rio Ferdinand, by october the 28 in order to not be shut down.

http://saveourstanley.co.uk/

Please, spare all you can. I know i have.

Thanks.

Anybody else watch Leeds Vs Liverpool last night? Complete and utter sh*t. Leeds clearly should've won, and yes, I do support them, but I'm pretty sure any neutral fans would agree.

Beccio[sp?] messed up by going for glory and putting the ball over the line when it was going in, making it a disallowed goal because he was offside. What a freaking moron!

Then Mascherano [cheatin scumbag] hits Beckford in the back of the head. Red Card offense: he should be off. But no, even though it was directly in front of the referee not even a Yellow Card is given! Saha got sent off last week for less than that! Then he only goes and sets up the winning goal, when he shouldn't even be on the pitch! Might I also add, Ngog is a terrible player and doesn't deserve any glory whatsoever for that game, he played poorly.

Finally, one of those commentators was seriously getting on my nerves. He'd criticize Leeds every single time they didn't do something perfectly. But as soon as Ngog scores he starts claiming how miraculously finished the shot was, when a flaming six-year-old with one leg could've put it in!

Calm..

Didn't Newcastle go into administration yesterday? Or was that my friend getting things mixed up?

Leeds win 1-0 against MK Dons. Good result considering they're 4th. Haven't lost a game in League One, and only drawn one. Automatic promotion this season boys.

at 3am in the morning at your age Hugh, you shouldn't be on here mate. get a bird. :D

Man City 3 West Ham United 1 :D

very good game, we played some good stuff. went to sleep for about 10 mins to let them equalise. Tevez could of had 5 at least and there was plenty of other chances. i do beleive that they should of had a 2nd goal, but the linesman flagged for a foul on Lescott. :-s Petrov had a good game, just to say he's still about. a very sweet left foot. :D

i wonder if comic boy or his dad joecoolfrog will show up.

I really enjoyed the game yesterday, thought it was played at a decent pace. Tevez could easily have had a hat trick after 15 mins, and Petrov was a bit rusty but showed his quality when it mattered (some sweet left foot volleys as well).

Rangers 1 Sevilla 4 :(

Novo.

oh dear. fooking ref, that was a penalty and he should of been sent off. would of been a totally different game, but hey-ho. at least Stuttgart failed to win in Romania, this gives us a great chance still to qualify. 8-[

FIFA have just moved the goalposts!

You'll no doubt have heard about the decision to tier the teams who finish 2nd in their groups, so top seeds such as Germany and France etc will be kept apart while the lower ranked teams such as Ireland, Serbia etc now find that it's suddenly become much harder for them to get to the finals.
Unfair? Possibly.
Personally I think it's a good thing as the World Cup/European Championships are meant to be where the best teams play to find who is truly the best of the best. These competitions were NOT designed to keep everyone happy, rather they're all about celebrating the best teams and giving the rest something to strive towards. In fact I'd like to see a return to these values in the Champions League, as having teams who essentially "failed" in their own domestic leagues hailed as Champions is a bit silly, and devalues the competition somewhat.
Discuss.

Stockport 2-2 Hartlepool

Another point towards safety :D . A bit disappointed really, seeing as we were 2 nil up at half-time.

Also, I heard an interview with the chief exec of Weymouth fc this afternoon, and it appears the local businesses and fans have managed to save the club by sponsoring everything in the stadium, from the phone he was using to the floodlights and the floor in the bar.

So a big congratulations to all involved =D> =D> =D>

And johnnyrotten if you still read these scintillating posts............how safe are they

I don't have much issue with the play-off being seeded, do think that it's a bit wrong to have made such a decision before the tournament started though.

You can't possibly think that anyone will take you or your argument seriously when you claim that teams like Tre Fiori, Mogren Budva, Sant Julià or Hibernians FC are a better representation of "the best" than teams like Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus or Olympique Marseille.
