This question clearly indicates that you missed my point. Actually I don't think you likely missed my point. I think you decided to overlook it.

Freedom, Prosperity > Limited Freedom, Corruption > Communism

I didn't miss or over look your point, I'm just interested to see how, when given a list of three random countries, you would rank them.

I give you my word that I wont say a word. I'd be interested in how you viewed random countries

I wouldn't mind doing it as a matter of pragmatism. But since you'd just use it as fodder to diminish my substantive premise, I'll pass.

As a Chinese-Canadian, I like to take viewpoints into both the PRC and Canada.
I claim neutrality towards the Communist Party of China, but everything else that is currently present in the PRC is not something to be proud of. The high air pollution level, corruption, lack of basic morals (ex.the intentional sale of counterfeit products to make abnormal profits are very common right now), and severe ignorance within the general populance are just several aspects. I am however, proud of Chinese cuisine.
There are a lot more positive things about Canada. People are nicer (usually), the crime rate is lower, and there's always enough resources to sustain the developed economy. However, I find it disturbing that Canada is becoming increasingly reliant and influenced by its neighbour, because the customs of Canada are much better than many other developed countries.

You claim neutrality towards the communist party of China? They did a great job of brain washing you.

Meh, it just seems that if you look back at history they really did help a lot of poor Chinese peasants during and several years after the Chinese Civil War, but practically every other policy after that was crap :P

Your cultures are now very set in stone and each state has something different to offer from the next. You have a huge music and film industry which a large part of he world are enjoying.

So im interested in what you each think of your country? Are you proud to be called a (Whatever you are?)
Obviously this applies to everyone not just Americans.

Me personally, i love the English culture, history (especially watching England learn and mature as a nation) but i am not impressed with the way our politicians are running our country or the way are people are reacting (or rather not reacting to it)

I think our culture is getting somewhat lost and we are becoming known for our chavvy element. And i hate the fact that so many people of England are fed up.

On the flipside we are producing many a decent scientist with probably the best probe module engineers in the world (yes its a small part of space exploration but an important one)

Our music, although not always to my taste is surprisingly succesful and our movies ... well some of them are good.

Our economy is crippling however but i think thats the case with a lot of countries at the moment.

How do YOU feel about your country?

Only the pussies feel that way. They do not understand the issues because they do not think with their heads, they think with their emotions, just like chiks do. Most of the people that feel shameful about the USA have a lack of faith in their life. They have been tearing down christianity for so long and with such vitrial, that when it gets old, they turn it to their own country. It's natural to desire to fill the hollow emptiness that a faithless life can lead. They lack purpose. They are also the people who need someone to blame. These kind of people will always be around. Who breeds with them is a mystery to me.

Can every one please just ignore Viper, lets try not turn this thread into another shitstorm

I'm an American and pretty proud of it. Not like super crazy proud of it, and I'm not entirely proud of everything we've done in recent history but I think when you add it all up we're still doing pretty good. The place as a geographical entity is a wonder. Deserts, mountains, forests, prairies, swamps, (if you include Alaska, & Hawaii) rain-forest, and tundra. Nearly every geographical climate in the world can be found in this country. I took a road trip from Ohio to California and back, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Over all the people are good and honest. Yeah there's hicks and trailer trash, and people like Viper but what can you do. I'm one of the poorest people I know but I still have a roof over my head, I am well fed, and have access to the internet. Basically what it comes down to is I'm able to live a very comfortable life here with very little effort and I'm very thankful for that.

Our music, although not always to my taste is surprisingly succesful and our movies ... well some of them are good.

I think "surprisingly successful" is a huge understatement! Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Elton John, David Bowie, The Kinks, The Who. The list goes on and on... England has produced some of the most famous bands in history

While I may not agree with some of the things my Government does, I'm still proud to be an American.

I am also grateful to live in a country that is free. While most complain about the freedoms we have being slowly taken away, its still more free then most.

I am also intrigued by other cultures, especially Poland & Ireland being I am part of both. I do wonder what it would be like to live in either place. I at the least know I would love the food

I like Canada too, I visited once & would love to go back. Very nice people.

Ol' Sax has never lived in Poland or Ireland either, though don't suspect I'd like it too much.

Poland used to be a wonderful, very enlightened and progressive place until '89 or '90 or thereabouts; my understanding from friends is it's basically a shithole now, though I haven't been since then myself.

Ireland has the potential to be a wonderful country except, right now, you have British troops marauding around the place raping anything that moves (usually young boys and cattle).

This is a topic which has concerned me at least 1 minute per day in the last few years.

I try to think about what is it that would make me proud of my country. Which do you think are the qualities I should be looking for?

Between the rethoric used by the politicians, the manipulated official school text books, the most known public figures and their statements about the greatness of the country.. and my belief there's nothing to be proud of.. I don't know what to think.

In the mind of most people there's a story well imprinted, Mexico is great.. If you happen to find another Mexican overseas it's like a little party, when you have seen only Mexicans for the most of your life.

There's a feeling when you're entering the country back after being a few months or years overseas. It can be described, maybe is something everyone else feels when coming back to his/her country?

No, I'm not proud of my country. And lately I'm not proud of its people either.

Ohio's a nice place. Not a great place, not a wonderful place, but a nice place. admittidly not as nice as SUNNY AND BEAUTIFUL SANTA BARBARA CALIFORNIA, or pretty much any where in California. actually California might just be the best place I ever been too (I've been there a lot I have family there). I have left the country, Canada (but that doesn't count) Aruba, and UK (London specifically). Aruba comes close but Cali's bigger with more culture and and scenic shit.

Back to OHIO!!!! Cincinnati is probably the best part of the whole state. Rolling hills, lot's of history, misty valleys. I lived in Columbus for 5 years... kinda sucks. No hills, no forests, no history. Yeah it was nice to leave Ohio for a while but when you see a lot of the bullshit between here and Cali (like Kansas & Arkansas) you get back to a place like Ohio and you think "yeah... this isn't so bad."

That's what I'm talking about that you can get that just getting back to your own state. I have a friend whose been all over the damn place. He's been all over Europe, Syria, and China. Whenever he get's back he can't stress enough how good it feels to be "back it the land of the free". He kind of says it in a joking way but you can tell that there is a genuine sense of relief to be back in WONDERFUL OHIO!!!!!!! THE HEART OF IT ALL!!!!!

The United States of America is not what it used to be.
It used to be full of pride that was well deserved.
Now it's just empty pride.
Pride based on lies, greed and foolishness.
I'd say our peak in deserved pride peaked and started its decline right around the time we went to Vietnam.
Now we're just a parasitic country that will suck your soul out of you if it meant we'd profit in any way shape or form.
I grew up (until I was about 17) liking capitalism and then realized how much of a monster it can be.
Capitalism has come full circle. And it will collect.

Edit: I'm not saying Socialism or Communism is great, though. They're all flawed in one way or another.
Renewed yet infused with apathy.
Let's just have a good time, all right?

Where as i dont particularly like arguing, hence my very rarely frequenting the Flame Wars of old, you seem to follow me around like a bad smell to try and start a fight with me.

I am asking you to stop now. By all means express opinion, but stop trying to get a rise out of me. I assure you this will be the only one you get.

I genuinly believed what i said about America and it could hardly be called sucking up. I also genuinly believe that every collective group of people are capable and almost always have, done something constructive in their time.
