Setting up networks, vpns, services, servers.. it's real fun. You get to ask for new toys, open them, set them up, play with them, most of the time there's not much to do, tests perhaps, monitoring, but it's one job where using your wit rewards you with not having to do anything else and browse the internet all day.
If one Network admin comes here and tells me it's actually hell, I'm going to say you are not doing your job correctly. So don't bother.
It would be a great job, if it didn't come with users. (Old joke, but there's a lot of truth to it.)
This is what I did in the military for a very long time. It is a lot of fun. But when it's your JOB, it's not nearly as much fun. Which probably applies to pretty much every job.
I would have slaves who would take care of technical support to male and ugly female users.
