My husband said something of the sort to our now 11 year old when he was younger... and he thought Dad was serious. My husband has not curtailed the joking, but has somewhat tempered his topics.

Sort of agree with this, though I would substitute "long-winded" for "vulgar". And I have to say I have become much more familiar with the conservative ideologue, though that may be as much because society has become so much more conservative as anything here in CC. (Though CC has added to my depth of understanding on many topics, spurring me to look into things even when the information is not presented directly here).

On the other hand, I have a handy marker/reminder of my CC time. I joined when my son was an infant. Every time I look at him, I know how many changes have occured in my life since.
