One of the finest lyrics ever is

"The fool on the hill
sees the sun going down
but the eyes in his head
see the world spinning round".

I'll argue with anything. Penny Lane >> Yellow Sumbarine and I wouldn't even say Penny Lane is the best. I think When I'm 64 is slightly better than both of them.

Queen were a great band but not even close to being as good as the Beatles. I couldn't possibly pick a best Beatles song , top 10 would be hard enough , best I can do is venture that their later work ( 1967 onwards ) was better than the earlier work.

Some of my favorite Beatles tracks are actually covers they have performed, like Please Mr. Postman or Twist and Shout.

But All Together Now always makes me smile.

Live and Let Die, while not a Beatles song, was done by a Beatle and is an awesome song.

Actual Beatles songs:

Come Together - created as a Timothy Leary campaign song originally
A Day in the Life
Let it Be
While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Woodruff wrote:I like the Beatles a great deal. They're not better than Queen, though, as I consider Queen to be the greatest band ever formed.

I had high hopes for Queen when their first album was released,
but they never matched my expectations. A great band though.

It's really hard to compare any band to the Beatles, simply because
their songbook is so broad and effortlessly merges so many influences.
I don't think there is a best Beatles song either or even a best album,
just a lot of great songs produced by some talented young guys who
somehow managed to be in the right place at the right time.

Twist & Shout. Don't care for their later work.

Several of my early teen years were spent with the Sergeant Pepper album in the background.

A couple of months ago I made a poll, A Day In The Life was triumphant.

How true. I basically listened to the Beatles and nothing else during high school, focusing on one album after another and settling on the fact that I liked their mid-late work best. I didn't find anyone else in the hundreds of kids I knew who cared for them in the least.

Listening to Rubber Soul and Revolver lately I'm still amazed by the music these guys produced in their youth. Yet Sgt.Peppers and Abbey Road are both hard to top.

Bob Dylan does it to me too... the early albums and his resent releases.
Few people can touch his lyrics, storytelling ability and music.

It's kind of one of those things gets lost with mp3s- listening to an album all the way through.

Leonard is Canadian and sings in English. Perhaps French too, but I have only heard him sing in English. I love his song Closing Time.
