First words from the following characters ...

Night Strike: I'll play.

GreecePWNS: me too

Lootifer: I would like to play

saxitoxin: Has anyone else encountered a player with obvious anger management issues or personal life concerns that spill over into the game?

natty dread: Hello, I've not played very many games, but here's what I've gathered about playing 2.1 esc freestyle unlimited, 3-6 players ...

Army of God: Title makes this pretty self-explanatory...I hope.

nietzsche: no te escuchoooooo (Mexican for "I am seeking an American to trick into coming to Mexico to kidnap and enslave; must be under 5'8")

Player57832: Big problem with on/off notification in games is that some people may go offline quickly, then come right back on.

BigBallinStalin: I will do a 2v2 with any you of wimps; and I will dominate you. (Interestingly, BBS originally thought he had created an account on AdultFriendFinder. It would be another six months before he played his first game on Conquer Club. And yet this post makes sense on either site.)

PhatScotty: So every non-premium cook I play gets to leave me a 1 on ratings. (class warfare out of the gate)

Juan_Bottom: I am brand new here; so I do not know exactly how this works, but can I get a new clan?

Symmetry: A really nice map, but ...

thegreekdog: Is there any interest in maps for some other cities?

Woodruff: You're all idiots - even though this is my first post here I'm leaving and never returning, TROLLS.*

I'm still annoyed when people use "unpassable".

Saxi was in his prime back then.

Over the years, it seems that we've become more tame.

Obviously Haggis made a mistake there with the direction of the arrow, as Lootifer later will point out.

I think I awoke saxi's dormant lust for compiling statistics.

Btw. the mention of natty just reminded me. The toughest bug I had to track in this whole project was caused by the fact that I had 2 natty's in my data "natty dread" and "natty_dread".
Took me like 40 minutes to figure out that's what was going on.

Goddamn natty and his goddamn underscore.

So, since there is no arrow pointing from me to Woody, that means I have hardly ever responded to him, right?

Well, I wouldn't say "hardly ever" cause this graph filters out everything but the top few interactions. But your rate of reply to him wasn't high enough to appear on the graph, yes.

I'll do a dump of all the unfiltered data and post it online somewhere later. That way if anyone cares they can search for their name and see what's going on.

Did you capture the data manually or wrote a little parsing program/script?

Wrote a crawler/scraper.
That was the whole point of this project. Needed something to test my crawler on and wanted to do something more interesting than getting user reviews for toasters off of amazon or something like that.

Everything is automated except for the 2D placement of the nodes on the graph(which is why I can't make a massive graph with like 100 posters, I'd have to manually give the 2D coordinates for each one).
Actually I was really surprised I couldn't find a decent library to do the vizualization stuff, one of the few times the python community has let me down.

Nice. Nice.

Did you account for different spellings of names like AoG, saxi, BBS?

Maybe you can use some program like https://gephi.org/ I guess you would just had to make the crawler to output the data in a csv file. It would be childs play after writing the crawler. (If you feel like it)

I can't imagine a single person in these fora being surprised by that piece of information, though I'm pretty sure that you think there's a different reason for it than most of us do.

No, but I only consider the first quote in a post anyway, that one usually has the full name(at least that's how I respond to posts).

Why do I only consider the first quote?
1. Because I did most of this in a night and if I want to handle all quotes then I would have needed a way to detect and disregard nested quotes (so that if you quoted X and X's quote contains a quote of Y you don't show up as quoting Y). Didn't seem worth the hassle.
2. Because the way convos seem to go here sometimes you end up splitting a longer reply into 5 individual quotes, but it's still your answer to 1 reply, it shouldn't count as 5 quotes.

Hmm, that one looks interesting. I don't have time right now but I'll definitely check it out and post more/prettier graphs if I end up making them. thanks.

I hadn't think of that.

Sounds interesting, to implement the algorithm you could come up with an elegant solution using recusivity.

Point 2 seems a bit more complicated to solve. Not worth the effort.

I suspect the arrow would also be going from me to Player (and not just from Player to me), but I rarely quote Player anymore since she writes long diatribes.
