There is nothing good about this story. It certainly isn't about freedom. It's oppressive and antagonistic. And for any of you Christians out there who think this is good, how would you feel if France, or your country, banned not only the burkini, but also the habit? Or banned wearing crosses on a necklace? Once you legitimize persecuting one religion, you've got license to persecute ALL religion.

Even this FOX News anchor who regards himself as an out-and-out 'Trump guy' thinks France has overstepped the mark with its persecution of Muslims via the 'burkini ban'.

Imagine that. A guy who supports banning Muslims from entering the US, torturing terror suspects and starting a nuclear arms race in East Asia thinks the French authorities are too extreme for his tastes.

France is a secular country so I presume the government has decided to fight the radical believers the only way they will understand, with brute force. And that's ok. Its more and more obvious that there is no room for religion in the modern world.

I think this thread needs merging with the Olympics thread. If French people are so fragile that they need legal protection from even laying eyes on people with different values or customs to their own, then we shouldn't be surprised they don't have the constitution to excel at competitive sports.

Man, the OP has zero concept of the idea of private property. This isn't an "assault on radical Islam", it's an assault on liberty.

How can you justify telling someone, anyone, who owns their own store what they have to sell? If you own your own store you sell what the f*ck you want and don't sell what the f*ck you want. It ain't nobody else's business.
How can you justify telling someone how to dress at the beach? If someone wants to cover up then it ain't nobody else's business.
Ridiculous.

You justify it because it's against the Muslims. But you are accepting that government has that power, which later you can't complain when they turn that power onto some other group whom you are more inclined to be sympathetic with.

The OP is a true moron.

Exactly this. Particularly the underlined. The type of thinking being displayed in France is extremely short-sighted and small-minded.

Ok mrswdk, 4% of the Canadian population is from Chinese origin. Similar percent are Muslims in Germany. Why Chinese people dont make problems in Canada as Muslims do in Germany. Same applies for France which has ~8% Muslim population and Canada which has ~8% population originating from Asia(Philippines, Vietnam, China, Korea and Japan).
The things to be more interesting, there were mass shootings made by people from Asia but no one blamed the Asian communities. But Muslims communities are blamed.
Is something wrong with the Chinese people or is something wrong with the Muslims or better said: Is everyone wrong or Muslims are wrong?

I agree, nationalism is taking the states into dangerous oceans... WW2 started that way, and took the lives of around 3% of the world population.

Canada is further north, and therefore has fewer gravitational pulls on its residents than Germany. That is why Muslims in Germany do outrageous things like not selling pork in their shops, while Chinese in Canada have learned to behave just as a Westerner by stealing all the Canadian oil.

Its other way around... Gravity in Canada is stronger then in Germany :P... and the Equator has the weakest gravity ;)

Here is a BIG picture so you will learn this :P

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls poured more oil onto the ongoing controversy over Islamic clothing in public places, when he appeared to suggest that head-to-toe coverings worn by Muslim women contravened the French spirit.
Valls, who is considered to be on the right wing of the ruling Socialist party, invoked the image of country’s national symbol, Marianne, which was adopted during the French Revolution to represent freedom and enlightenment – and the rejection of traditional values.

Marianne has bare breasts because she feeds the people, she does not wear a headscarf because she is free!” Valls told a group of supporters during a public speech. “That’s the Republic!
