Atlanta's sometimes referred to as the "Phoenix city" down here because it was burnt down during the Civil War and rebuilt afterwards.

Sandy Springs is noted for seeking to gain their indepence from Atlanta in a similar manner as the American colonies from GB and by that I mean, we were tired of paying high taxes.

Sydney, home of great beaches, Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Probably the best standard of living of major cities worldwide and no violence to speak of.

Nothing ever really happens here because everyone's having a bbq, at the beach or the pub! 8)

The guy who invented Scrabble or at least the guy who first started manufacturing scrabble came from my town - he started making the game in his house. And we are famous for the man who put his wife through a wood chipper about 10 years back. Also, there is a flagpole in the middle of our main street. That's about it. Oh, it is also boring as hell here and filled with a lot of old people.

I lied. I live in the town where the first ever Methodist services were conducted in NH. Now that's exciting.

This is the best my town can come up with :

Competition from the South and abroad led to the closure of most of the textile mills. The city is developing new uses for these structures. The population has stabilized at around 40,000 in each census from 1940 to the present.

Wow...so all the mills closed and no one wants to move here. Pretty good stuff!

Sydney's about the tamest place on earth! If you want to see what fighting is, go to London.

I've never even heard of a pub brawl in Sydney, nevermind seen it. The biggest thing I've come across here are organised gang fights in the carpark, hardly a split skull between the combatants though, so you can hardly call it fighting!

The 126th biggest parade in the state is at our place.

In other words, nothing is happening here.

Well, it's not here in Laramie, but in Cheyenne (about 30 minutes away), has Frontier Days, the world's largest and most famous Rodeo/Carnival.

Don't think I've heard of the Calgary Stampede. Also, what time of year where you in the area?
