Not a Virus

Postby ikill4fun on Mon Dec 17, 2007 9:49 pm

First, in order to be a virus it would have to be a file. Which it is not! It is a playable web game, it is no different than browsing any other website.

All I am trying to do is build a user base that can help me to test my design and allow me trouble shoot the code.

Soundout, the forum is being programmed as we speak. It will be incorportated in to the next site upgrade which will go on-line soon.

Again, thanks to everyone that is helping. I can promise it is not a virus, spy ware, or any other web based disease. It is a beta version of an online application that I developed.

its not a virus or a blatent plug, guys. Get those sharpened sticks out of your asses. Its just a silly game he's programming, so instead of being dimwits, perhaps spend the, like, 10 minutes that I did to check it out and tell him whats wrong with it.

Strife, in my logic 17 doesn't mean that your army is that much larger than the computers. It means that you have 16 chances to attack and the computer has 0. Essentially the outcome of any battle is based on randomness. 2 6-sided dice are thrown, if yours is higher than the computers you win, lower you lose, and if the dice are the same it results in a retreat.

Does this make sense? I could create a graphical representation of the dice, but I figured no one would really care. Is that an accurate assessment?

I've quickly found the easiest way to win:
As with all risk games, Australia is key. It has but 1 place in which it can be attacked from: Asia.

So when you are picking territories, first pick australia, and second, if possible, pick Asia. After this, the other 2 don't really matter.

When you are deploying your troops, place 1 on australia, 9 on Asia, and 5 each on the other two territories you have.

Now, each turn, attack from Asia until you have the middle east, or europe. You'll notice that N.A. cannot attack asia, so once you get the middle east and europe, you can take all your armies off Asia and put them on Europe and the Middle east. THen, just keep fortifying Europe while you take over Africa, then South America, and finally North America.

The trick to this is the troop chain. Because you have no threats to australia, at the beginning of each turn you can move the army you get there to whereever your battle front is. Once you get the middle east and Europe, you can move the army from asia that you get each turn as well.

This makes it almost impossible for the computer to win.

Yea, that is one of the best strategies to win. I am considering evening the playing field for the computer. I have come up with two options.

First, I am considering either adding an eighth territory or reducing to six territories so there is an even number. My thought was to have Australia be a neutral territory which randomly will attack both computer and player.

The other option, and probably the easier one, would be to have Asia / North America interact with each other.

Which do you think would be the most enjoyable?

ok, i joined...
first game right now

could you make it so instead of just "add one" and then refresh the page, include an add 5 and add 10 button? same thing for moving and advancing.

right now its way too slow.

and remove a lot of the "click here to continue" screens. it slows it down a lot.

Sound out, I took the log-in screen off after you log in. It now shows who you are logged in as.

The forum is about half done. I'll post it soon.

Not a lot of girls play CC either. They have better things to do than beat up on boys

For anyone that cares, the forum is now online and should continue to function normally. Keep in mind it is a beta test though so this could change at any minute.

I appreciate everyone's help and will continue to make some of the changes that were suggested.

The next changes on the agenda are evening the territory count between CPU vs Player and allowing several moves at once. The next phase will be graphics assuming all this goes well.

Thank you again to everyone that has been helping.
