Myth. Gurgling Hydrogen Peroxide on its own will not do anything. It is when it is mixed with water that H2O2 will form oxygen gas which does all your bacteria-killing and disinfecting. It's great for open sores and cuts inside your mouth but I'd be skeptical whether a doctor would recommend it for sore throats. I'm sure it won't hurt but...

also, while there is substance to the idea that it would kill the bacteria, no doctor would recommend it as a viable treatment, given the serious negative side effects and high probability of self-injury.

Oral surgeons recommend it for rinsing (in solution) when you have dry sockets or open wounds from extracted wisdom teeth.
