Back on topic, people like to drone on about the "terrible" settlers and how they butchered the Native Americans. First of, most of it is legand and hype. The whole illness bit for example: the settlers had no clue that the natives had no resistance to small pox and even if they did, to assume that they maliciously targeted the Indians with germ-ridden blankets is assuming too much hatred on the part of the settlers. Second, not every settler was a blood-thirsty madman out to cause mayhem. Same goes for the Army troops stationed on the Frontier: Fort Humboldt in what is now Eureka California is a good example, the troops there tried to keep the peace between the white settlers and the natives, and invaribly had both success and defeat. Mostly, it was the fault of the settlers.

Is it as simple as the left wants people to believe? Hell no. Is it a horribly complex issue? Hell no, on both counts. We are better off saying that "in this instance here, X was true but in that one over there, Y is true" and taking in the whole picture("Forest for the Trees").

Saying that all the settlers and all the troopers were murdering thieves is simply untrue: some were, in fact, alot were. But not all were, that would assume a massive, coordinated plan across national boundaries to wipe them out from the very begining of the first colonies in the Caribbean. In effect, saying that ALL white people are murdering, slaving, thieving brutes and all the rest of humanity is peaceful. To say, or even imply that, is racist and rubbish.

Firstly, My grandmother is half Chippawa. So I see this cruelty to Indians thing through her eyes. Americans have traditionaly been jerks. But how are we making it better today?

Native Americans today STILL have the highest suicide rate of any race in America. They have the worst land, and many nearby communities block them from developing it. With say-a slaughter house, or casino. Today, FEMA builds their consentration camps on reservations and the Native Americans can't say no, because they need the money. And don't you ever forget how their culture's are completly destroyed. Our government provides many tribes with school books even books to teach French and Spanish, but nothing to teach them their own language. And how sad is it when do-good missinaries hand out Bibles, while the government gives you a picture book to teach your children your religion?

First of all, before criticizing others, do a little spell check first, helps a lot.

Next of all, many Native Americans never had a written language, the languages were passed down through the tribes, and even then, there are numerous tribes with varying languages, some are ridiculously complex as well (why do you think the Nazi military could never break the Navajo code? Simply put, their language is simply that complex).

Last of all, your last comment kind of contradicts your entire post to begin with.
