Oy, that's the Coastal people, people in the Mid and Mountain West shovel snow, deal with ice storms, white outs, and snow that can just about bury most 1 story houses.

And are the coastal people not fatter than the mid and northern states?

Who do you think supplies all of the food, oil, coal, etc to them? Not exactly easy to be a blubbery whale and work in the coal mines, farms/ranches, oil fields and other places. [-X

We're a nation far too large, in population and geography to generalize. I was once snowed in for three days, I had to eat a crew from America's Most Wanted. ;)

But seriously I was actualy stuck for 72 hours.

That's because we're polite, asshole.

Just kidding, of course.

Toronto is a bit of a snob scene, especially downtown, but it's a great city to live in. I've called it home for ten years now and have no plans to go anywhere else.

I understand that hating Toronto is a bit of a Canadian pastime but I've never truly understood it. Besides the fact that the Canadian media is very Toronto-centric, what else is there to hate about us? And why is it that most haters secretly want to live here anyways?

Oh, not unfriendly - but US people will strike up a conversation on a bus, in a bar, waiting to cross the road. Makes a Brit nervous until you get used to it.

I don't know how many times I've heard "Are you guys Engllish? I love your accent!" from passers-by.

People in Toronto (for that is where we went) had much more of an English mind-my-own-business attitude.
We were there for Canada Day, great fireworks. Then we came back to NJ for July 4th. Too wet to go and see fireworks.

Toronto: nice place to drive through, wouldn't want to visit. :D

I lived in Toronto for 3 months, was a great place to party. Other then that, I found it a dirty and busy city.

Great critique. Sounds like you know the place well.

Another rant for you: Do you know who comes to Toronto to "party"? Suburbanite wiggers with rapist demeanors in their souped-up smog and noise factories, playing their shit music (always terrible hip hop or terrible house) at 120 decibels, looking to get wasted, start knife and gun fights, then cause drunken ten-car collisions on the ride home.

I know this has nothing to do with you, just thought I'd mention it for the almighty f*ck of it.

Sadly, that is true.

Although I recently visited Vancouver and saw the infamous East Hastings/Main district at night. Jaw-droppingly bleak!

We styed right on the Harbour, which was lively. There seems to always be lots of concerts, festival, theatre, etc, a great city for that sorta stuff. But not very interesting to look at.
I went down into the underground shopping thing - they claim its 20 kilometres of shopping or something, but actually it's the same 200 metres repeated over and over.

LMAO! What more do you think an underground concourse would be?? LOL. Who gave you the advice to go there and why on Earth did you follow it?? It certainly could not have been a local.

As for the tower, it has a pretty outstanding view of the city but more realistically, it is the view, especially at night when it is lit up and I am on my balcony enjoying a smoke. The night skyline is beautiful.

Yeah, we were in a hotel down by the harbour, when we sat round the outdoor pool in the evening we had a great view of the lit-up tower, with all the colours marching up and down.

We went out onto the harbour islands, that was cool. And on Canada Day we rode on a boat out into the Lake to see the fireworks. Very impressive.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but Toronto serves as NYC "on the cheap" in many films.

Much the same way that Pittsburgh serves as San Francisco as a cheap alternative exterior filming location.

Toronto's architecture was largely lifted from NYC and Chicago. Chicago, of course, was lifting from NYC's architecture for a long time, and had to have influenced Toronto. Chicago is, of course, too distinctive in it's own right, so would never work as a double for NYC, but Toronto works well.

So that's another reason to hate on Canada, they siphon off production money that could be spent in NYC.

I'd heard that it was because it was easier to get permit to film in Toronto.

btw, US bacon sucks - it's just fatty pork belly.

Not just NYC and Chicago! They film just about everything and anything here. It's kind of annoying actually...
