I can understand that, we have a museum here on campus. It's really small but it's got a room dedicated solely to fossils found in and off the coast of Georgia. It's pretty interesting to sse all the types of animals who were discovered here but not really something I would travel from Atlanta just to visit.

It sounds like I should visit Korea sometime.

I certainly recommend it, it may not be one of the very first places on many peoples list, but i am certainly enjoying my time here thus far. While id recommend (no matter where you travel) trying to do more than the typical vacation if possible, because you get more out of the place that way...i would say there is tons to do in Korea even in a short amount of time. You have a number of really cool cities starting off with Seoul, different types of outdoor activities, cultural things to soak in, and a pretty easy to use transportation system that can get you more or less anywhere you need to go.

It's true. If there's one thing I've learned about Hawaii, it's that the non-touristy places are always the best. It's just hard to find them sometimes.

yeah i think it certainly can be, especially in cases where there might be something of a language barrier. I do think there is something to the notion that the more you travel the easier it gets however. Id say there have been at least a few occasions where it was far easier to make due than i probably would have expected it to be. I think most people if they get the inkling that you are interested in some form of service and can pay will probably be willing to make an effort as long as your interested.

But failing that, find people who know what they are doing is my advice lol, meet some locals.

Hmm. I can agree with the non-crowded places I guess. I always hate being at the beach when it's crowded, mostly because I'm trying to body surf and a bunch of guys seem to be oblivious to it eve as they watch us do it. I mean I know it's not our right to have the water to ourselves but it seems like the people who see you catching the waves would have enough courtesy or at least enough common sense to not move back in your way after you've just moved out of the prime wave catching location just so you wouldn't risk running into them. On the other hand, Alaska, my second least crowded trip next to the one in Wyoming was by far my favorite vacation.

I'll admit the language barriers have scared me in the past.

They still scare me and id imagine they probably always are a little nerve wracking at times. I think you can do yourself a lot of favors by trying to learn what might be deemed as a minimal amount of whatever the local language is your trying to use, because even if you dont really pull it off, a lot of times people really appreciate an effort. I think the bigger thing is you will probably always miss a little bit of the local flavor if you can get all that much, unless your fortunate enough to be in a place where English is very common. Still i think sometimes its a risk worth taking because it really seems like there are plenty of really cool things to see and experience, especially if you do a little work on the front end.
