“Are you shocked by what you see,” the Master asked him. The fierce commanding tone had left his voice, but there was something odd about it, as though the sounds of the beach waves rolling over rounded stones echoed in each word. Robert realized that he was exposing his emotions and tried to regain his composure. “Do not be ashamed of it,” the Master replied. “The actions of the predator are always shocking to the prey. Yet consider this from a detached point of view. The prey is not killed, because we cannot kill the beast. Nor is he harmed because his nature will renew all wounds within due time. True, there is pain, but that is a relative concept. There are times I would love to feel pain. There are times I love to feel anything. If its pain would give my children pleasure then so much the better. If the situation were reversed, those beasts would do the same to us a thousand times fold and feel no remorse.”
“Do you feel remorse,” Robert asked. The question seemed natural but Robert immediately regretted asking it.
“I cannot feel anything,” the Master replied. “I am like the Buddha and that is my own personal hell. The non feeling one stares at the raw emotional one. The former has an advantage at the moment; perhaps one day the latter will have the advantage.”
“But you said ‘your children’ will be given pleasure, so they feel something.”
“They are young,” the Master replied. “Give them a century or two, or even three. There is something special about childhood, a form of innocence as it were. I was a child once, but that was a very long time ago. See the feast is over; go with your Mistress for I am sure she has something special for you.”
“What will happen to the beast?”
“He will recover, and before the rising of the sun in the real world he will have returned to it.”
“He is from the real world,” Robert asked.
“He is closer to you than you think,” the Master replied. “They are closer to you can you can ever imagine.”

I had the obligatory naked female vampire scene (now with more agnst as the MC is a married man). Since the vampire was made a vampire in the 1960's the disrobing / dressing scene also has reference to that old 60's female tradition ... the bra burning.
I had the obligatory hunt the lone werewolf, stretch him out on the modified pool table, stab him with the "steely knives" and lap up his blood scene. Sucks that the werewolf happened to be a friend of the MC. (Doesn't know that until probably some time tomorrow.)
The first draft of the elder vampire is a model of ... beyond evil and into the eternal void of apathy. Here is a section where he talks to the MC after the MC was invited to see the vampires torture and drink from the "beast" (not yet identified as werewolf).“Are you shocked by what you see,” the Master asked him. By the way, the initial reference to the voice is a loose homage to Fritz Leiber who used similiar language to describe the voice of Sheelba (of the eyeless face) in the Lankhmar series of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.

How about the dare video (on the main page) ... I'm going to include the staff members into the novel within the next day or two. I'm going to have them be people the vampires drink from and who drink from the vampires, although I thought about having them werewolves as well. The consensus on the Long Island page is going both ways.
