You don't think they'll make it? I reckon they'll get there. Their record so far is good enough for a runners-up berth
Norway aren't the same side they once were and Macedonia are underrated. Norway just sit back and defend and they still only scapred a draw against us thanks to a ridonkulous miss.

True, they aren't the team they used to be. It's hard to believe that 10 years ago they beat Brazil 2-1 in the Round 1 Group stage of the finals, and half their players were being scalped by top flight clubs in England.

i hope Northern Ireland get 2nd place and play Scotland. :D we might be able to get through then Hugh.

i remember Norway beating Brazil in France '98. i was watching Scotland get mauled 3-0 of Morocco. the Moroccans were all celebrating thinking they were through and Norway scored in injury time. :D funny as fook seeing their faces turn to pain and sorrow.

A bit like Angola last time then? Although they are the most sucessful african team in the cup of nations so no real suprise.

e_i_pi wrote:[*]North Ireland look poised to qualify, despite being in a group of quite tough opposition
This is imo down to its atmosphere. We all know its history, so if you came from spain for example, would you go there not knowing how peaceful it is now?

e_i_pi wrote:[*]Mexico may not qualify, currently being bested by Honduras
This is just a mystery, although if im right they have extra games to play due to some being called off for Swine Flu?

e_i_pi wrote:[*]After a horror start, Argentina finally drag themselves into a qualifying position of 4th place

Yes, Argentina were always going to qualify, being the best team other than Brazil in south america.
As for Chile, they are a FAR better team than columbia and uguguay. they rely on one or two individuals, whereas chile have a great whole team, as well as some stars such as Matias Fernandez and so on...

Hats off to the USA.

Spain 0 USA 2

well deservered, didn't give them an inch. closed them down at every oppurtunity. dissrupted Spain at every oppurtunity aswell. i didn't give them a chance, but well deservered.

the funniest moment was Sergio Ramos trying to control it and not knowing Clint Dempsey was right behind him to score in an empty net. :D

This is going to be our first international-type final, isn't it? I'm pretty excited.

So the draw's been made now, I can't be bothered listing it all, nor even posting a link, but just wanted to say that along with Germany and Italy I think we (that's England) got a very easy group, wahey! :D

a group with north korea is the group of death? fantastic work by the draw this time around if the group of death is a team who hasnt been in the world cup in a like 4 decades and a team that had to qualify in a playoff.

Shout afrika kill themselves with that group. it's practically the group of death. Another really thought groups are D and E. the groups C, F, G and H unbeliabable easy for the 2 strong teams each.

England & US should both qualify straight-forwardly enough.
I dunno about this group G thing, we're judging the entire Ivory Coast team on the basis that they have one amazing striker in Drogba. I think group A looks more difficult, Mexico & Uruguay can both turn it on from time to time, France should shine in this company. South Africa themselves I know nothing about. I fear the hosts will be out at the first...

mexico i think is on the way up after sorting out the manager issues. Uruguay was the playoff spot in south america, so its not like they were superstars. I think they hosts can still get out, but it wont be easy.

Those are some snidey looking groups. A & B will be the tighest groups, all the teams will end up on similar points. Most of the other groups look really straight forward, 2 'above average to good' teams, and 2 'below average to poor' teams.

I really do think Group D could be the group of death. Germany has not got it's own way there. for the hosts, I think they will struggle to qualify.

I do see South Africa as the first host to fail to qualify for the 2nd round.

if portugal and brazil draw in their game, that could be a very interesting group.

I predict the overall winner to be Croatia.
