"The chief of police was in my office, sitting on my desk. I can't even begin to imagine what was going through his mind. His deputy, killed just hours after getting fired. What happened? How did the mafia get a hold of our knowledge?
"'I had to tell the town. They had to know that there was still somebody who could protect him, if I fell. But now...it's just out of control. I guess we underestimated the enemy, not only that but there are serials killers running the streets, what has happened to our good old town, the one where there was no crisis? And look at this! Six killed in half a week? It's outrageous! How could this be...'
"'I hate to be a nuisance sir', I interrupted, 'but another man has been lynched. We investigated him for a while, but this man had no connection to the mafia.'
"'How God Damned incapable has our city become! The streets have become consumed by paranoia and disorder has broken out in my town! I cannot let this happen!'"

"I am but a bystander in this investigation, the town has taken the authority for themselves. Unrest has shaken the city. During the morning everybody got up and went to the city center. All except two.

"'There are only two people missing, men. We don't know where they are. Their codenames are aimless and unit2. We suspect that one of you four killed them both. So what we are going to do? We are going to search each and every one of you. If you have bruises, you are going to explain how you got them or you will be placed under arrest. If you have any weapons of any kind, we will place you under arrest.'

"'What? No, no! I am not doing this shit! Why? We have the right to bear arms!'

"The captain pulled out his gun, the barrel directly in Fircoal's face. 'You have a gun? I suggest you put it down and give it to us for forensics, or you can kneel while we handcuff your arms behind your back.'

"'Stand back! This man is innocent! I am the cop and I know that he is just a regular townie!' Everywhere pulled out his gun and aimed it directly at the officer.

"'You can lay down your weapon, officer, or I can take it down for you.'

"'Fircoal, we both know that each of us is innocent, if this man shoots me take him down!' And then, from behind, a distant call. We all heard it.

"'It is me! I found him!' Aimless. He trotted toward us, holding the body. The corpse was bleeding all over Aimless.

PLOP. This guy has dozens of rounds all over him. 'Oh wait, there was something else I wanted to show you guys, hold on, I'll go get it from his house.' He ran back to where he came from.

"'Funny how he ended up finding this body. What the hell was he doing in that guy's house?'

Silence.

"'Anyone else here beeping?'

"'Oh God no.' I flipped the body upside down, and sure enough, there it was. A bomb. Fircoal took out a gun from his pants and shot it at Aimless constantly. Shot after shot, his rage emptied through his weapon. Then the bomb detonated. The last thing I remember was the cop rushing over to pick up Fircoal's mutilated body...

"Suddenly, I fell into a deep sleep."

Unit2 (Townie) has been killed!
Aimless (Mafia) has been killed!
Fircoal (Eccentric Gun Owner) has been killed!

TOWN WINS!

"'Wake up.' A face. Blurry, but visible. Then it stuck out. Everywhere, the cop. He has come. 'You are one of the three who survived the blast. But we have some good news. Aimless got taken down by Fircoal's rage. With him went the last of the mafia. We got them, detective. The threat has been eliminated.'

"'Oh...good work...detective...'I was still a bit drowsy from the blast. 'What day is it?'

"'April 7th, sir. The bomb went off yesterday. You've been asleep in that bed for thirty hours. But I'm just here to tell you that he is guilty.'

"'So it's done?' The cop walked away slowly. 'It's done, right? Is it?' He stopped. I guess he was a bit dazed himself, either that or he was thinking hard...

"'I'm sorry, detective.'

"'For what?'

"And then, before my eyes, he pulled out a gun. And for the longest second of my life, he stared me right in the eye. Then there was silence."





Who wins? Will there be a sequel? Will the mafia rise again?
