No Lynch. Never, ever vote No Lynch on Day 1. It's a double gift for Mafia: No danger of lynch to them & no new info for the townies.

Yeah, but see to me nobody has said anything outright insane.

So lynch the submariners.

I want to weigh in on the whole "random vote" thing. In general, although I seldom do it, I think random voting on day one is a good thing for the town. Part of the voting process is to pressure players, trying to force them to make a slip-up. A single vote generally doesn't accomplish this, but it does start the process.
And, ultimately, even if no one makes a slip, a random vote can lead to a random bandwagon. This, IMHO, is actually good for the town, if the town reacts correctly. First off, bandwagoners are prime suspects for future days. Second, if played right, bandwagons can force a roleclaim, which provides the town information. Either a confirmed townie, or a slip by the mafia. Sure, odds are that our poor townie will die at the hands of the mafia over night, but the mafia was going to kill someone anyway. And, frankly, this is a numbers game. Trading a townie for a scum is always worth it.
However, here comes my major gripe about mafia, and the forum culture here. This group of players routinely misplays bandwagons (obviously, not everyone here is implicated, but enough of you are that it pays to make this point). I can't count the number of times I've seen someone drop the hammer for the sake of "we need a lynch" or some other crap. The town does not need a lynch, unless the odds are good that the town is lynching mafia. It is better for the town to end the day with no lynch than it is to screw up and lynch a power role, or even a townie.
Frankly, when I play scum, I rejoice every time I see someone voting for the sake of a deadline - especially if that is their only consideration. So, for the sake of the town, for God's sake, don't lynch someone just because you can! And count the fricking votes! If someone is at lynch -1, don't vote. That is, unless you're certain he's scum. The point of putting a player close to lynch is to force them to roleclaim. If they won't claim, or if someone counter claims, then lynch them. But, always always always wait for one of those conditions.
Bah. Sorry. Rant over. And really, this is the wrong thread to be posting this in; I should probably cross-post this to NV3, since I think that group of n00bs needs the advice a lot more.
And, lastly, Unvote. I'm going to re-read this thread and see if I can't find a few scum.

Vote Madny for pressing lynch on Aimless for the wrong reasons.
Someone is lynch-happy today?

He shouldn't be advocating no lynching on the first day. Seriously, it serves only to help the mafia.
