But to make a comparison on the first part of your comment:

I didn't mind the episode so much, but I think they'e getting their timing all wrong in this series. I knew from the comic storyline that Eugene was a fraud so maybe the shock value of that news was lost on me but I can't help but think it would have had more impact if they had resolved the Beth/Carol/Darryl storyline first and then shipped off to see the group heading for DC. They could have been on the road any amount of time so it wouldn't really have mattered. If the BCD storyline took a few days with a bit of clever use of flashbacks from the previous few days that story could still have been told.

The mid season finale looks to be setting up to be Rick's group vs Dawn's group. There was a webisode that had a picture in it of Rick's old police unit and one of the people in the picture looked remarkably like Dawn, so it may be that there is an actual history between these two characters.

I loved the camera work in this one, some of the shots were very nicely done. The writing not so much. I did really like the water cannon vs zombies scene though, actualy made me LOL.

Oh and high standards get you killed in the apocalypse. Unless you're willing to do some pretty low things and accept some pretty shitty situations, especially regarding food, water and companionship, you probably won't make it.

it's getting pretty aggravating to watch. just as soon as you get settled in to what's going to happen next they postpone it for 5 episodes. i'm all about keeping the viewer on the edge of the seat, but i't's taking them a whole hour to advance 5 minutes worth of meaningful plot.

Carol is the shit. I agree the group-centric episodes aren't working for me either. I would prefer continuous storyline as opposed to one episode shifting from storyline to the next. Still, the show is the bomb!

Yep, yep, and...yep. They drug these differing story lines out way too much. They should have converged them a couple weeks ago. But now I believe the stories will finally converge on the upcoming episode. Daryl and the kid from the hospital go back to Rick's camp and get the group mobilized to go in and rescue Carol and Beth. So now the episode will start off right after Rick and company killed the cannibals (or are we going to have to grit our teeth through another plot flashback?)

only two episodes left til the mini final. if they dont tie off all these loose ends before then, im going to wait til the season ends so i can cram it all in on a rainy day via netflix. i like the show, but it feels like im getting bamboozled into watching all these commercials for very little in return.

That was a very disappointing episode.

I am willing to suspend disbelief to a certain extent for TV shows (hell, this is a show on ZOMBIES), but this one completely crossed the line.

1) No way in hell either Daryl or Carol survives the drop in the van. Even if I give them surviving, no way in hell both of them walk away with the extent of their injuries being Carol having a sore shoulder.

2) No way in hell Carol gets hit by a car and doesn't have her legs shattered, and/or even more trauma. This is one of my major pet peeves with all TV - the way that people get hit by cars, roll up the hood and into the windshield, then walk away with minor injuries. No.

3) Last time we were in Atlanta (season 1) there were so many zombies that Rick could barely move around. Atlanta has a population of nearly 500,000 people and they made it clear in the series so far that many other people were migrating there. What the f*ck happened to them all?! How can D+C just cruise around with no issue, running into small pockets that are easily distracted by fire?

4) How did they not run into any other people?! We know of at least 3 bands of people holding out in Atlanta now, and there have to be more. A huge city and the one person they run into is the random black kid from the place they're trying to go?

5) How the f*ck did either a) they randomly run into the black kid twice or b) the black kid track them through multiple fires and zombie hordes and a drop from a bridge in a van?

I liked the little bits of Carol backstory we got, but they would have been far better served saving them for a whole Carol-centric episode (like her dying in the next one) and filling them out more. Otherwise, I found myself disconnected from this episode and just waiting for it to end so the next one can come out.

I'm glad they did the 3-in-1 story thing, it moves a lot faster. I just hope the priest escaping doesn't create a new thread.

Who better to understand Rick than another cop who is struggling to keep her other cops in line. She doesn't seem all that crazy, except when she slapped Beth. But she did help Beth go get the medicine for Carol (because her cop force is starting to turn on her at the hospital). I think you may be on to something guessing that Rick and Dawn might be a "thang". We'll see.

YUP, tonights the night. so far this season on a scale of 1-10 i'm sitting at around a level four of enjoyment due to all the "can't just tell a story" bs. hopefully this mid season final will put me back over the 5. offing the priest will go a long way. that guy is useless and also aggravating to watch.

Yeah the one plus is there's no chance we ever have to listen to Beth sing again.

Still I didn't understand a damn thing. Dawn seemed like a fairly reasonable person. Why did Beth stab her?

Also, I thought for sure that - after Rick shot the first cop - they were going to hang onto his body and then send an ultimatum like "we'll shoot one of our hostage every 5 minutes until you let Beth and Carol out" and then after the first five minutes shoot the cop that was already dead, pretending he was still alive, to show them they mean business. That would have been like The Walking Dead meets Ocean's 11.

I am getting a little sick of these long talks everyone has where they say "I'll never be the same again" ... they've been saying that for years now, we get it already.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting that. I honestly expected Beth to get out of there in one piece just for reasons.

Dawn was more reasonable than she first appeared but ultimately she couldn't keep the crazies in line and was going to go one way or another. I see a bad path in the near future for the hospital group but as likely as not we'll never see it.

Female cop who is apparently now in charge because other female cop is dead: Wait! The plot armour is thick in this one. We must not shoot him.

I am wondering now why they are flying through the storylines. The "Welcome to the Apocalypse" story line. All of season 1 (which was admittedly short). The search for Carol's (zombie) kid. Most of season 2. The fall of Shane. All of Season 2 (and you can argue that it started in Season 1). The search for Merle. Started in season 1. The rescue attempt of Andrea. Season 3. The Prison vs the Governator. 1 1/2 seasons. Terminus. Half a season. Beth's Story. Half a season of not being shown. Carol's Story line. Most of a season without being shown. Then we get to season 5. The cannibals. Done. The Trip to Washington. Done. the Church. Done. Carol's storyline. Wrapped up with little ado. Beth's story/hospital. Also seems like it might be over. It feels like they are pushing a bunch of stuff out of the way all at once. I kind of feel like they are trying to get to something but I am not sure what as of yet.

It only took four and a half seasons for them to get from Georgia to South Carolina. At this rate they'll be in Washington by the time Carl is 40.

And even in death we can't escape Beth's serenades.
