I kind of feel sorry for the actor, Jack Gleeson. I think it might be hard for him to live this role down. I know I wouldn't be able to see him as anything other than a cuntbag. Certainly wouldn't be able to take any other roles of his seriously.

You have to admit that it's a spectacular performance by him though. Fans hate him with an undying passion which is probably exactly what George RR Martin wanted.

Oh, sure, he's a great actor. He played the part perfectly. I just get the feeling it might be the death of his career, a la Mark Hammil with Star Wars.

From what I understand, Jack Gleeson has already stated that he plans on "retiring" after this role. He's afraid of getting typecast and that he'll never be able to follow it up with another great role (a la Mark Hamill). Cash your cheque, and run.

betiko wrote:i saw that comming from way back, I said early in season 3 that maergery was a smart one and that she was getting there and would assassinate joffrey when the time comes.
but now it doesn't make much sense if it doesn't give her any power if she isn't considered queen regent?... did the tyrell miss that move? I doubt they could be so smart and stupid at the same time.

so that strange guy is taking sansa away? I'm pretty sure sansa will end up with baelish either way.

and the shae episode... i don't get it... it's all presented as if this was going to have an importance at some point... so if tyrion dies... she kind of becomes a moot character?

Margaery cannot become Queen Regent. According to succession, Tommen becomes the new king, and Margaery is Tommen's aunt-by-marriage, whereas Cersei is Tommen's mother. Cersei remains Queen Regent, until/unless Tywin manages to wed her to Loras.

Tywin remains Hand, and will use this to further force Cersei out of power.

As for the Shae storyline... how convinced are you that she is gone?

show: for people who have read the books

ok; so is tommen officially the new boy-king now? he is even more meaningless than rickion or his sister whose name i've forgotten of.

by the way... what are the relationships between dorn and highgarden? they are neighbours, so are they more like allies or long time rivals? I don't understand the Tyrell plot. the Martell plot looks very promissing too. is sir loras in love with the martell prince by the way?

regarding shae.... ahhhhh no come on! so i guess the poor tyrion is not just going to die, they will make him see how they torture her and get her raped by dogs. this is just so fucked up about tyrion, from what I know of a favorite character for 90% of the people following this. oh and sansa willjust see how her midget husband is humiliated and how she gets humiliated by the same occasion again. I think her self esteem is soon going to be close to theon's... lol
but did she leave or not???

and where the hell is littlefinger, he wasn't at the wedding?? ohhhh.... f*ck that's true!!!! he went to see lysa arryn tully to seduce her and marry her???? so arya is getting there brought by the hound, and littlefinger will bump into her and immediately ceize the opportunity for something...

I may need to stop reading this thread...I know too much. Tommen and Myrcella being overshadowed until this point was kind of necessary for how the books proceeded. They will start getting a bit more recognition soon.

I feel very sorry for Jack Gleason. He did play the role very well. Forget about being typecast. Can you imagine how it must feel to be one of the most hated people in the world? I know it is only a TV show...but, as you can see, many people are very much into it. People have strong emotional connection with some of the characters, probably because of the intense story, shocking violence, etc..And just as strongly as folks love the Starks, or who ever they love, most everyone certainly hates Joffrey. Everywhere this guy goes, I am sure he is greeted as Joffrey. There are a lot of people that can't separate character and actor. He is said to be one of the nicest people in reality. I heard he was involved with humanitarian efforts, like helping the earthquake victims in Haiti. He wants to do more of that. I know many people do charity work, but in this case, I wonder if it isn't some sort of over-compensation. His face is associated with some terrible, terrible things..things that he didnt actually do in real life, but I bet people give him the real hate. And now he is giving up acting to help the less fortunate? He must be relieved to be dead.

Yup, that's how the line of succession works, although some parts of Westeros honor female heirs, that would make it awkward considering Marcella is older than Tommen...

The latter. Dorne and Highgarden have a long history of mistrust, and war. In fact Highgardens pretty down right racist towards Dorne.

No I don't think that Loras/Oberyon is something you should read too much into.

Ok thanks. Loras looked at oberyon in a gay way and jaimie caught that, and given that oberyon is bisexual...

Regarding that jack gleesom guy; i just loved to hate him. Joffrey has been such a horrible person in some scenes, and there are some mimics he did that were so absolutely brilliant that i had to rewatch them a few times because they were just too funny.

So what s wrong about being the bad guy?? What s up with actors that are afraid of a role? Jack gleesom should just continue playing bad guy parts. He should also do comedy. This guy has a huge humouristic potential. He could be the next austin powers super bad guy or the next james bond super bad guy. He has credibility for these two kind of roles, and i m sure he can widen his spectrum to tragic independent movie good guy roles. Lead good guy character? Nope.

Regarding Jack Gleason and why he's quitting acting, I think it has much more to do with his feelings on Hollywood, fame, and celebrity culture in general than his own personal experience and fear of being type cast. He's a very smart individual, and has spoken on the subject on several occasions. If you are interested about why he is leaving the acting profession, and want to hear it from him I suggest you watch this video.

It's an interesting talk and it lets you in on how smart he is... and yeah I think he's happy to be done with the show, and I think he genuinely enjoyed getting to go out the way he did.

I haven't read the books. Only reason I used a spoiler was because the guy before me did while asking a question, and in case someone hasn't figured out who did the poison yet, and didn't want me to tell them. Although, all I did was point out what was shown on the TV.

Well, as per the title, you are allowed to spoil anything you ve seen in the show! :D
People enter and read at their own risk if they haven t seen the latest episode. By the way, nice catch i didn t notice all those details. I just had no doubt the tyrells did it.

By the way... I didn t know there even was a mr tyrell still, surprised to see this character revealed. The tyrells were very feminine so far, maergery and her grandmother, and loras the gay knight.
So what s up with loras and maergery s parents? This family is quite mysterious.

I thought it might be the pie at first, but watching a second time, I noticed servants brought pie to the entire wedding party.

Something else that was suspicious to me. Varys...something is bothering him. He knows something that we don't know.
show: my guess. maybe you should wait until after the next episode
