Did anyone else see the bit when the players were leaving the pitch and Rooney mouthed off at the camera?
I switched over from ITV to the Irish coverage on RTE (ostensibly for some brutally honest opinion) and was both delighted and amazed when they proceeded to not only show that bit in detail but also to provide sound for us.
Rooney snarled to the camera "I've never heard home fans booing before, call themselves proper fans? Fucks sake!"
Or words very close to that (Forgive me, I've been drinking) and then, fair play to the unbiased Irish (!) they then proceeded to mock, ridicule and, yes my friends, to lambast not only the crappy performance but also the unadulterated cheek of Rooney who, by the Irish pundits unforgiving (yet, in oh, so many ways apt) appraisal had been nothing but a huge let-down in this World Cup having the audacity to complain when booed by his own fans.
Johnny Giles summed it up masterfully "If you play like that you expect to get booed, Bill"
"I apologise for the bad language at the end of Rooney's interview" the legendarily taciturn and normally disinterested anchor Bill O'Herlihy positively beamed into the camera before concluding "if you can call it an interview".
Delightful stuff!
I'm agreeing with all the neg's yeah we were shite with a capital shite (scotland!) but should still scrape through regardless so there it is, we get to go through REAL emotion next game
