That has happened, and it was a moderator who posted the porn link, and that mod was immediately forgiven.

Also, it's totally the best idea, when one has two brothers with plenty of experience working on computers, to not call them for help and instead ask an internet forum where people always crack jokes in the first responses to computer questions.

Maybe, but if it involves a long distance call to brothers who don't check their phones constantly on the weekend.

Also, I did not think it took a complex answer, and calling one's brothers in this situation involves some razzing... though in the end, I would have called if I had not been able to fix things "myself".

Anyway, as I said some time back, I accept the intent was not to harm. Still, even things we don't intend to harm can truly harm.

So despite expecting "razzing" from your brothers, you are astonished that it happens here.

And the long distance thing... come on... No one has long distance charges anymore. Most phone companies don't even charge extra for international calls on landlines.

This thread is rapidly revealing itself as a case study in internet Münchausen syndrome.

Razzing and telling me to destroy my computer are 2 different things. And, I tend to be fairly serious here, tend to mostly engage in serious threads (or threads that, from the start are not serious).

Maybe if you live in a big city they don't. Welcome to the difference between big city and rural USA. That said, I just did get an unlimited plan. Still, I have to pay a per call tax... which winds up being somehow about equal to my previous per call charges. :?

I'm curious why you would believe this. I see no place where PLAYER appears to be feigning any significant false injuries.

My sister keeps calling me for help with her computers etc. I finally just installed my remote access tool on them and left them installed. Now when she calls me for help I just remote in and fix it. Much easier. Funny enough, I've done the same with my parents, my friend, his sister, my roommates dad.....

Being the guy getting called all the time by people that are asking for help, I figured it's just easier this way.

BTW...politics and fixing somebody's computer don't have anything to do with each other. Sometimes I might disagree with player's politics and beliefs (usually?) but that doesn't change the fact I'd offer the absolutely highest level of service. If I let politics interfere with my job I'd have to move out of the state I live in and live someplace else...which is just silly.

My mom had a computer for five years before it began running real slow.
All it needed was a disc cleanup and defrag. She had never deleted email
trash or the dumped the recycle bin.

Agreed!

And... I love to debate issues. If I only talked to people who thought like I do, that would be pretty boring. Besides, I wouldn't learn much that way.

I did not crash my computer and I was able to get the virus off, so .. all is well that ends well. (and next time, I know better than to take Pimpdave's computer advice)

I had some true viruses, plus (it turned out) some other issues. I got them resolved.

It's rather astonishing that you would actually attempt to justify your actions...

Wow! I thought what Pimpdave said was pretty funny until I read that Player had actually done it...at first I thought she was just playing along with the joke...Well, at least there's no harm done. All's well that ends well, right?

btw Pimpdave, you don't need to try to throw blame on Player and criticize everything she says. That's just childish.
