Yeah well when you regurgitate things that are told to you by "teachers", you are indoctrinated into what you like to call your "reality".

Also, me saying giving the authority to someone to hit you is a failure at school??

You are a moron. Here's a gold star, all-star.

Sorry, there's no gold star emoticon, but you can cut yourself instead.

So...you're against education? For home-schooling? Are you sure that it's indoctrination rather than the teaching of cultural norms?

So by listening at all, you are dooming yourself to an eternity of unknowing slavery? Kkkkkaaaaayyyy then... We do have this thing locally known as a "safe middle ground". Hear what other people say and make your own interpretation...

I was actually speaking of times when school did involve being hit by teachers. If you wanted education, that was the only game it town.

P.S. What's with the PM? Seems really wierd commenting on people's post count and premium status...

Keep "teaching" what the norms are.

Make people "normal"

Manipulate people.

When someone doesn't conform with the norm, outcast them, call them crazy.

It's a pitiful society we live in.

Ron Paul wants to abolish the department of education.

Also, he is a strict constitutionalist.

Yup. Social status is the only thing that matters in life.

How will the majority of the population be educated, then? Homeschooling millions of kidswill flat out fail, especially at higher grades, and private schooling is too expensive for the vast majority of the population. Any other options?

Hm...that's not what I remember, but I only recently got out of high school I suppose. More and more people are encouraged to not be normal, at least by the system itself. If anything it's the other kids that would manipulate people.

What does he suggest we do after destroying the entire education system?

My expericence with bullying is the only thing that makes a bully shut up for more than three seconds is a hard knock across the jaw. That said, it is not a prefect responce and tends to get the victum in trouble. Bullies should be sent to military school rather than be expelled; give them a chance to put their head out of their ass and shape up.

Bad parents should be fined, repeat offences merit jail time (the kids go to either good relatives, proven foster homes or military school depending on the kid's behavior). Teachers are not the problem and schools would be a lot better if they were simply allowed to educate without the interference of having to worry about disipline.

Oregon adopts Mexican school curriculum. Bet you didn't know about that...There's a couple other states that have too.

Trying to find the global comparison of edutcaiton or soemthing that shows the US near the bottom.

They are trying, and succeeding at making you stupid.

Either that or trying and failing to make us smart. I suppose it depends on whether they want to lord over us or remain technologically and economically competitive.

I don't think crushing people's individualism completely is the best way to go...

True, you'll end up with a very well behaved generation, but also a crushingly uniform one. Discouraging crativity and individualism and encouraging obedience (which is what the military does) is not the best way to create a well balanced generation, especially in a country which apparently values personal freedom above all else...

I agree, there are people who would benifit from military school, but installing it as a general punishment is not a good idea...

We'd be better off I think if the States picked up the British curriculum, maybe even the German school system. Perhaps, since we are supposed to be the melting pot, that we take the best of each system and work up from there.

Obviously, you haven't noticed the technological advances of India, Iran, China, Japan etc...Outsourcing anyone??

Fantastic post, Neutrino......Military is interchangable with school.

The US does not value personal freedom anymore. Habeous Corpus, people getting tasered and (in result some) killed, arrested, for asking questions.

A man in Texas was told by police to take Ron Paul signs down from his fence surrounding his lawn.

Free speech does not exist anymore, in the USA.

It means that you.....

Hate guns, love welfare (giving money to otherwise able-bodied people so that they can sit on their asses all day and eat junkfood), believe 9-11/JFK/Pearl Harbor were all conspircies, let your children grow up to be ill-mannered savages, never vote (nor wirte your congressman), are overly PC, say whatever is on your mind without thought of the consequencies (then squak about the consequences), etc.

It other words, losers.

That's a pretty long string.

I beleive everyone has a right to own a gun. I hate (most) people on welfare, 9/11 was an inside job, as was JFK, the US had multiple warnings from Russia, and other countries about Pearl Harbour, they provoked it, I probably will home school my child(ren) if I have any, I vote, even although leaders are selected, not elected, and I love fredom of speech.
It's a beautiful thing.

Ok, pro-gun. At least we agree on this.

Hating the people is wrong, hating the system that made them lazy isn't.

9-11.....well, no surprises from you there. Nor did JFK or Pearl Harbor shock me either. Three names: Mohammad Atta, Lee Harvey Oswald, Hideki Tojo. Those will answer any and all questions about the events in question.

I have friends who were home schooled, my siggy is something that one of them has said.

I vote too. I also regret some of those decisions but I just have to grin and bear it for only a little while longer.

PC is a joke. 'Nuff said.

A truely responcible people would not, say, shout the word "Fire" in a crowned theater. Can't realistically write stuff like that into law without enacted a virtual thought police, but there are jerks willing to give it a shot.

So in the end, you are only partly with the program.
