That doesn't mean that their right is the correct choice. If I care about something and it's being shut down I complain. I don't meekly let people roll over me, whether or not they own a website. Just because it isn't my say doesn't mean I don't have an opinion. Hell, perhaps we should just leave politics to the politicians, when it comes down to it we don't have any real impact.
First of all, thank you for a rationale response.
I wouldn't be pleased if CC was shut down either. I simply see it from a different view. People know the forum guidelines because they're clearly posted. When someone violates the guidelines then they receive a consequence. It hardly seems like someone is a victim if they've been warned and they still proceed to purposefully violate the rule. I think some people here are not thinking objectively because Suggs was such a likable guy. It will be a lesser place here without him but that's the consequence for his deliberate action.
My problem is that people are trying to portray Suggs, Norse, or whomever as a righteous crusader. They're actually praising him for trying to get Lack's goat. Suggs provoked him. Lack reacted appropriately in my opinion, although 6 months might be too long.
I think it's a stretch though to say that Lack's rolling over people. As long as you're willing to be reasonable you're not going to be at risk of a ban. If certain people can't restrain themselves then they should look for another place to post. Another alternative is to create a forum with a different set of rules.
