There are a lot more things different. And ofcourse we're part of the same species. That's not what race means. Race is actually not considered a good term for anything except cats and dogs, but that doesn't mean you can honestly say we're the same race as like asians or something.

PHENOTYPE IS WHAT RACE IS ABOUT. A species needs to be able to have viable offspring to be the same species. A german sheperd and a poodle can have viable offspring, hell even a Danish Dog and a chihuahua can. (Well, it would be difficult without insemination...)

It is the generally accepted and widely used word to denote the different phenotypes. No-one uses it in the same way as the interbreeding definition. Race is just another word for phenotype in this context, whereas it would not be as acceptable were we to be discussing butterflies (which we aren't).
