TeeGee wrote:If you take the word "parole" in its correct context it means word of honour (honor for our American friends) and does not necesarilly relate to prison :) , I thought most people on this site would have been of above average intelligence and could see words in there correct context.

Sure sounds like you were referring to prison parole to me... And when you look at it again:

It doesn't quite fit as well as it does when you take it with the prison contexts. Perhaps next time you should better construct your sentences so their easier to understand and words with multiple meanings can't be taken out of context. People with above average intelligences can do that and understand that people aren't perfect and that the English language is a funny thing. One word can have multiple meanings and even the smartest of people can get mixed up if the sentence isn't worded correctly. Next time, please, try a bit harder or at least be understanding when we get mixed up because of your blunders. Also, next time, why don't you correct somebody the first time the fudge up, eh?
TeeGee wrote:
Frigidus wrote:So if someone escapes from prison they should be allowed to stay free until they do something wrong again?

Its hardly the same...Did xtra rape, murder or assault anyone? A bit of common sense goes a long way, try using a little :)

See, you going along with the whole prison analogy (which obviously wasn't what we've meant, as we've seen by your recent post) only further cements it in our minds that that is what you were trying to get across. So please, use that super intelligent brain that you have to avoid such confusions, eh? Remember, the words around a word add as much meaning as the word itself.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

ok hecter, just for you  I'm happy to drop the "parole" crap and let you take it however you like

so in america, is calling someone a redneck the same as calling a mexican a beaner? And is it offensive?

In Australia we refer to americans as yanks, Englishmen as pommies and New Zealanders as kiwis or sheep shaggers.

Racial slurs are where we draw the line. What defines a racial slur is malicious intent. Words like beaner, nigger, spic, etc.. have negative connotations and are considered racial slurs, ergo not allowed. If you're not sure if it's allowed or no, PM a mod before posting.

Ahhh....but how about reasones, non-maliciously intended arguments for racialism?

Thanks for that wicked.

Does this apply to slurs that are offensive to the USA only or does it apply to terms that may be considered offensive in other countries?

Like i said before in Australia we often call New Zealanders sheep shaggers, now while in Australia its harmless, I can see the possibility that a New Zealander may consider this offensive and derogatory.

And do Americans take offense at being called yanks?

I can't say I have heard the use of spic in such a manner, I took it to mean very clean
spic

adjective
1. completely neat and clean; "the apartment was immaculate"; "in her immaculate white uniform"; "a spick-and-span kitchen"; "their spic red-visored caps" [syn: immaculate]

Found what you refered too :)

noun
1. (ethnic slur) offensive term for persons of Latin American descent

I think common sense dictates what is mailicious and what isn't and from what I have seen here most of the time the mod team shows that.

No, applies to all countries. Now we may not know what is offensive in Guam or the South Pole, so rely on everyone here to tell us if something is posted that would be considered an ethnic slur.

Thanks, is there another name that you find OK to be called in reference to your nationality without it being an insult?

Australians get called aussies (pronounced ozzies not awsees) and skips (references to kangaroos).
The pommies will remind us we are convicts all the time, normally after we beat them at any sport :P

I was refering to Aussies whipping the poms who are only good at sports like darts (is that really a sport) :P

And on the topic of sports..how can you call it a "world" championship or series or whatever if the only teams involved are from 1 country?

Pommies?
