Wow. I admit McCain blundered when he forgot how many houses he had. But seriously, you liberals just take stuff and twist it don't you. MCCAIN WAS JOKING about the wealth issue. Even Obama knew that, but you mindless followers had to go and blow it out of proportion.

And it's truly ironic, Obama calling McCain out of touch with the real world, as if he's struggling to get by. Obama made 4.5 million dollars last year; and let me tell you this: there has not been a single candidate for a long long time that has been a common man. They're all rich elitists who are so out of touch with the world it's not even funny.

And what are you talking about false promises? It's a proven fact that when the rich have lower taxes, the government gets more money from them, because they actually pay all their taxes. Idiots like you and Obama don't seem to get that. And not sure what you mean with the last bit.

Didn't Obama come from a poor family?

McCain has always been spoon fed...just like someone we all know.

Its also an established fact that the higher up you go in the tax bracket, the more that you are outperforming the total tax burden, especially when you consider the payroll tax, which is far more important and hits the averagre american just as hard if not harder.

Your still going to get all the taxes that are going to be paid from the very rich if they pay all their taxes, you just get more if you repeal the bush tax cuts, which is something that should be done.

No kidding..... those damn rich people are ruining it for everyone. Its just not fair. Not fair at all.
What needs to happen is the government needs to take ALL of everyone's paycheck.
Then re-distribute it in equal amounts to the populace. The exact amount can be determined by His highness Obama. He knows whats good for everyone so we should all trust him. After his $trillion+ spending plan, I'm not sure how much will left, but it doesn't really matter. The government should be supplying all of our daily needs anyways....so anything left over we get is a bonus!! WOO HOO !
That way its fair to everyone....and those damn rich people will be all gone and we won't have to hear about how much money they have anymore.

I think we both know that isnt what im saying. We also both know ive never advocated for ruinous redistribution of wealth for the upper class of American society. Nor do i argue these things from a purely ideological stance, it is always contextual done in terms of budgetary measures. If you cannot argue a position against without resorting to this, it shows two things. One that you arent spending enough time looking at the things your willing to bash my positions on and two that you cant actually find budgetary flaw with them. Neither makes you look very strong.

testy today....
C'mon.......the rich don't pay their fair share, right?
Which means they should pay more... right?
So the logical conclusion is to make them pay so much as to bring them down to the common man's level...... that way its fair.

It is all about fairness, after all.....right?

fair share immediately connotates ideological positions. Its rather irrelevant to the argument. From the stance of social policy making, in times of govs with larger expenditures than revenues you need to figure out the ways to start to balance your books. While doing so you need to be able to provide for the basic welfare of the citizenry (which obviously isnt so basic in a welfare state).

Its hard to quanitfy what exactly fair share is. Are we talking by lifestyle burden? Certainly it seems difficult to argue that if the bush tax cuts were repealed that it would hurt the wealthiest tax brackets by a comparable amount. Fair share in terms of numbers? well obviously in that case its very difficult to argue the wealthiest should ever be taxed more as they are always going to have the highest tax rate. However this doesnt factor in payroll taxes, which makes our system much less progressive than it seems.

Yet you would probably get most people arguing we should be promoting some form of a progressive tax system. The average person, would hold that if you make more you probably should be taxed at a rate that better reflects how much you make. If you arent, are you putting in your "fair share"?

Its a rather absurd argument to claim anyone is bringing anyone down to anyone elses level. It is almost a hijack of a term, and has little to no place in any serious discussion of social policy. Again i would propose anyone making such an argument has little actually understanding of what we are talking about, or the things either candidate is proposing.

I think that a majority of the Hillary supporters are mad about how the primary's were handled, if the democratic primary's were handled like the republicans (winner take all) primary Hillary would have won a long time ago. I think that Obama should be fearful of the elections he couldn't even win a key state from Hillary, but becouse of the rules the delegates where split even. Hillary had 18 million votes the same as Obama and allot of those will go to McCain. I just dont think Obama can win the states he needs. In the end the republicans will come together for McCain and vote for him, and if Obama cant do the same with the democratic party it may be a hard fall..

well if you worried that he cant get the voters from the democratic party, arent you part of the problem, as your the one who is breaking party lines? Not being a party voter is of course fairly reasonable and nothing should be held against it, but it seems to be what your advocating as the problem, which technically you are contributing too. Also, its not like all of the candidates didnt know the rules going into the primaries. And to be honest it seems splitting is a bit of of a reflection of the average person than the just give it all to the winner. A lot of peoples votes get lost that way, especially in larger swing states.

I just changed my vote from choice 1 to choice 2 (b/c I was going to vote McCain for the reasons stated above.) I was very impressed by Biden's speech. He ripped McCain to shreds, and with class. And I liked the fact that in the first sentence he threw in a little profanity. That goes a long way to bridge the credibility gap. I think McCain has gone and dug himself a serious credibility gap by getting too aloof behind the silver screen of the attack add.

So that's that. I still think O'Bama is pretty sleazy Chicago politician, but at least Hillary will end up on the Supreme Court

These quotes alone should be enough to make people run from McCain as fast as possible.

  • "Make it a hundred...That would be fine with me." --to a questioner who asked if he supported President Bush's vision for keeping U.S. troops in Iraq for 50 years, Derry, New Hampshire, Jan. 3, 2008

  • "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should. I've got Greenspan's book." --as quoted in the Boston Globe, Dec. 17, 2007

  • "I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself. I don't expect to be a great communicator, I don't expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need." --New York Times interview, July 13, 2008

  • "We have a lot of work to do. It's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border." --referring to a border that does not exist, ABC News interview, July 21, 2008

  • "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c*nt." --to his wife, Cindy, after she commented on his hair, saying he was "Getting a little thin up there," as reported in the book The Real McCain by Cliff Schecter

Not to mention the fact that when asked how many HOUSES he owned...he couldn't remember and said "I'll have to check with my staff". (He owns seven).

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy ... I mean, that's a storybook, man." - Biden

"(Obama is) a one-term, a guy who has served for four years in the Senate. ... I don't recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic." - Biden

Biden, on a post-debate appearance on MSNBC, October 30, 2007: “The only guy on the other side who’s qualified is John McCain.”

and for you anti-war'ers:

Sen. Hillary Clinton's proposal to cap the number of U.S. troops in Iraq would result in "nothing but disaster." - Biden

"I don't think John Edwards knows what the heck he is talking about," regarding the former senator's call for withdrawal of some U.S. troops from Iraq. - Biden

Biden appearing on The Daily Show, August 2, 2005: “John McCain is a personal friend, a great friend, and I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off...”

On Meet the Press, November 27, 2005: “I’ve been calling for more troops for over two years, along with John McCain and others subsequent to my saying that.”

Assessing Obama’s Iraq plan on September 13, 2007: “My impression is [Obama] thinks that if we leave, somehow the Iraqis are going to have an epiphany” of peaceful coexistence among warring sects. “I’ve seen zero evidence of that.”

Biden said in a campaign ad, “When this campaign is over, political slogans like ‘experience’ and ‘change’ will mean absolutely nothing. The next president has to act.”

On Iraq:
Biden on Meet the Press in 2002, discussing Saddam Hussein: “He’s a long term threat and a short term threat to our national security… “We have no choice but to eliminate the threat. This is a guy who is an extreme danger to the world.”

Biden on Meet the Press in 2007, on Hussein’s WMDs: “Well, the point is, it turned out they didn’t, but everyone in the world thought he had them. The weapons inspectors said he had them. He catalogued — they catalogued them. This was not some, some Cheney, you know, pipe dream. This was, in fact, catalogued.”

Biden to the Brookings Institution in 2005: “We can call it quits and withdraw from Iraq. I think that would be a gigantic mistake. Or we can set a deadline for pulling out, which I fear will only encourage our enemies to wait us out — equally a mistake.”

Biden in October of 2002: “We must be clear with the American people that we are committing to Iraq for the long haul; not just the day after, but the decade after.”

balances the ticket to be honest. I am not thrilled with a fair amount of his foreign policy, but I think as far as the experience does go, it at least temporarily makes the foreign policy issue a little harder to attack. If he went with someone who was closer to his stances (might be hard to do at times) it would leave a fairly wide open weakness whereas now i think Obama could be rather fairly viewed as the lesser of evils as far as foreign policy direction goes.

Seriously folks... Obama's speech last night was pathetic. He squandered all of the credibility that Biden had showed the night before. It was a farce, and a sad day to be an American watching the crowd eat that shit up.
