Leeching

Postby Phatscotty on Sat Mar 06, 2010 3:24 pm

Leech- A poster who is supported or seeks support from another without making an adequate return. Offering nothing to the host or hosts, and leaving a pool of blood wherever it posts. Leeches have no substance and only one function. To SUCK on a thread.

There are many different types of leeches.

Here is a prime example of leeching a poster. Notice this particular leech has a very fat belly and has been leeching for quite some time.

The most effective way to remove a leech is shown here

And hopefully, in the end, with sources, facts, and evidence, you can once again be happy and leech free

also known to share characteristics with: hanger-on, parasite, sponge, satellite, stooge

In praise of leeches:

Leeches are one of nature's most misunderstood creatures. Frequently used as an insult by those that have a poor understanding of the name, the term "leech" is often used by the ignorant to describe something passively feeding off an active host. Most such users will have little understanding of how an actual leech works, and will likely have never studied a leech in practice.

Leeches have a long history in relation to humans. They have a strong tradition of medicinal use. They are still considered to be excellent in the treatment of wounds, where they have an amazing ability to clear wounds of poisons and bad blood. This helps the body to heal in places where the body would otherwise reject the arm due to infection, leaving the body weaker as a whole. Nevertheless, some still reject the use of leeches in favour of amputation, or the administration of drugs.

Read into it what you will.

Yet, it is still raw instinct that the human being automatically grabs the leech, pulls it off and non-chalantly attaches the bloody carcass to a barbed hook.

You're quite right- it's not rational and it may impede the healing process. Also that the punishment is cruel, disproportionate, and designed to create a spectacle.

Reattaching someone's thumb, right after surgery:
The surgeon had no difficulty reattaching the arteries, but the nerves and veins were more problematic. Unlike the thick muscular walls of arteries, veins are thin and frequently tear when sutured. The surgeon was unable to anastomose the veins; so leech therapy was started immediately after surgery. Without venous outlet, the thumb would become engorged with arterial blood and circulation would stop. Leeches provide an outlet for blood collecting in the replanted thumb.

Thank you, leeches, you're doing the fora well.

Leeches are good for maintaining opposability. Some people don't like leeches. They need to get a grip.

Everyone knows Leeches suck blood, just like vampires.

What everyone does know is that Leeches are more scared of the Cross than vampires.

Leeches have proven quite effective in getting rid of gangrene, so maybe that's true here, as well?

EDIT: The above is wrong (see, jay, I can admit it!.. again!).

Its maggots that eat gangrene, clean it from flesh far more effectively than surgeons.

Leeches are used to keep blood flowing, etc so the body can heal itself. Hey, I guess that analogy works even better, because the supports that liberals want do just that .. keep people functioning in society so they can get onto their own 2 feet.

I fail to see how Inklosed could be used to improve peoples' blood flow or get rid of gangrene. ;) Actually, even though I think Ink starts those parody threads so he won't have to address the subject matter that PhatScotty brings up in the originals, they are still pretty creative and funny.
