You're going offthe new topic... I think.
And tgd, after reading the last three pages I think pd is more qualified to talk about schools of economics than you are.
Phatscotty wrote:john9blue wrote:not surprised that you think that. but who is more qualified to talk about economics itself?
Greek has displayed pages and pages of econ posts, not even getting into right or wrong.
I have maybe seen one post from Dave in an attempt to get all economic on someones azz.
Greek is the winner on volume/participation alone
thegreekdog wrote:I don't know if I'm more qualified tan pimpdave. I've certainly posted more on the subject than pimpdave. I'm also readily willing to admit I don't know something. As I stated in this thread, I didn't know that the economic theory I believe in was from Chicago; I didn't know that clever people referred to Atlas Shrugged as Chicago Economics pornography; I didn't know that a neurologist was a successful hedge fund manager. There are a lot of things I don't know; there are a lot of things about economics I don't know.
In any event, volume and participation does not make one an expert.

<reads past three pages>
Where's the economics?
And why do you hold that opinion? Because pimpdave spouts off nonsense and makes superficial claims, "I studied economics!" (what kind? what did he learn, if anything?) "HA, YOUR AN IDIOT FOR ASKING QUESTIONS TO CLARIFY THE MEANING OF SOMEONE ELSE'S POSTS!!" (see: my Q to tobinov). It's pd trolling. Come on.
Instead of economics, pimpdave seems to be qualified in the art of rhetoric if he can convince you of his alleged knowledge on schools of economics. (if you look back, he doesn't really explain what the Chicago school even is). (seriously? You gotta be trolling tgd here.)
(oh lewl, responding to a one-year old post. But still MeDeFe's post doesn't make sense).

But libertarians are famous for their compassion and great social ability, it's such a shame john's defying that stereotype.
It's also really amusing that Atlas Shrugged has been bitchslapped by the invisible hand of the free market.

The Wet Nurse embodies the collectivist world in which he was trained. Although he has a degree in metallurgy, he has no practical skills. He merely repeats things he has been told and uses words cleverly so as not to say anything clearly. He is taken aback by Rearden’s insistence on calling things exactly what they are. His job is to determine Rearden’s output so that it is in compliance with the laws. But without the laws, there would be no need for his job in the first place. Rand, a strong proponent of unfettered capitalism, uses him to demonstrate the absurd ways in which bureaucracy fuels its own growth and the waste and foolishness required to keep an artificial system running. In a capitalist system, Rearden would be free to produce as much steel as his customers require, and they would be free to buy it or to go elsewhere if he could not give them what they wanted. For Rand, the simplicity of free markets stands in obvious contrast to the complex bureaucratic structures seen here.

HAHAHAHAHHAA
1991, a survey by the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club found that readers rated "Atlas" as the second-most influential book, behind only the Bible
The Library of Congress is the research library of the United States Congress, de facto national library of the United States of America, and the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States. Located in four buildings in Washington, D.C., as well as the Packard Campus[2] in Culpeper, Virginia, it is the largest library in the world by shelf space and number of books.
Phatscotty wrote:I saw it yesterday, I am going to see it again today, and I regret not having read the book earlier. I have always wished there was a book like this available, I guess I just needed to get over the size of it and figure there is a reason why it's the World's #2 most influential western book behind the Bible.

There's no way to defend what you said.
One could just shut up had that been said by someone else, but the way you push you agenda and claim knowledge of the world and the economy and stuff, I had to say something.
It shows how little your perspective is, and your intent to further defend it shows also how you would go to inexplicable lengths in order not to lose a point.
I'm going to quote you here again, because knowing you, you will go and edit the post so that I end up like a fool:

It's not logic...it's a source. It's not my credibility, it's the Library of Congress's.
My opinion has nothing to do with anything, I have not offered any opinion, or perspective, nor any intent. There are no points to be made or lost, it was just a simple statement.
You can ignore it if you want, but trolling the messenger won't accomplish anything.
