I like the signs that say Islam will dominate. When?

The world today:

Over 40% of Muslims live in homes without running water or electricity. Muslim terrorists "greatest" weapon was a hijacked plane that actually did a shitload more damage to their day-to-day business than it did to ours. Freedom is the only way yeah.

Once the community instituted fear leaves so will the religion after a few generations.

I have a "muslim" friend and we both have the exact same views on religion. I told my christian parents I wasn't going to their church. My muslim friend said that telling his parents he was an atheist would "probably" be "slightly" more tolerable than telling them he murdered someone.

The basic tenet and common ground of most religions is peaceful coexistence,
but it's obvious that ignorance knows no religious boundaries.

The intelligence of the people is highly exaggerated and zealots in all cultures
seem to have little difficulty exploiting human emotions and spiritual voids.

i am surprised that the xenophobe natty dread has not posted in here yet. the opportunity to launch a blanket attack against any religion must be like a birthday or christmas gift for him.

i would be curious to see what would happen if i started a thread titled 'country of peace' followed by pictures of american soldiers in vietnam. i feel that although the level of parody or irony or whatever would be the same, people would decide not to be racist and agree with me as they are doing here against islam but would instead get angry against me. but such is our world.

Nobody is agreeing here and the concept you propose for a thread
would be chumming the waters just like dave's been doing. Do you
appreciate the smell of napalm in the morning?

This thread is bullshit. Another example of taking a small percentage of people and trying to turn it into something the masses believe in. Shame on you PD

The Koran says that Jews, Christians and Atheists will burn in hell forever and Muslims will go to heaven...

Peaceful coexistence. (not to mention the 'j' word).

You know this to be true because the friend of a friend of a friend told you so
OR did you actually read this in the Koran yourself?

I have read parts of the Koran actually, mainly the first 3 chapters. I got bored quickly though, so much of it is just about how unbelievers are fools who know "We" are their God yet deny it, with a few stories from the bible shortened significantly, e.g. Adam and Eve story has a one liner about "Adam and his spouse". There is also a nice mention of magic in there.

Except this thread isn't about Christianity, so Natty will not be posting and hate or mockery here

Okay so clearly oVo has never read the Qu'ran.

No need for me to read the Qu'ran because dave is here to refute
the unfounded claims and rogue translations of religious zealots
and keep us all honest.

I've been patiently waiting for dave to inform us that Catholics also
believe all others are doomed to eternal damnation in the
fire stoked furnaces of hell.

pmchugh wrote:The Koran says that Jews, Christians and Atheists will burn in hell forever and Muslims will go to heaven...

Catholicism teaches that Jews, Muslims, Atheists and everyone else will burn in hell forever because only Catholics go to heaven. I don't remember any passages in the Bible to support this claim, but it does make me wonder if they share reading material with Islamic radicals.

Quran (40:71-72) - When the fetters and the chains shall be on their necks; they shall be dragged Into boiling water, then in the fire shall they be burned

Quran (22:19-21) - But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads; Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted; And for them are hooked rods of iron

Quran (4:56) - Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment Lo! Allah is ever Mighty, Wise

Quran (56:92-94) - But if he is of the rejecters, the erring, then the welcome will be boiling water and roasting at hell-fire

As to what regard Muslims are to show for those who don't believe, the Quran says to be ruthless toward them, since they are going to Hell anyway:

Quran (9:73) - O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination

Quran (66:9) - O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey's end.

Quran (8:55) - Surely the vilest of animals in Allah's sight are those who disbelieve

Quran (9:30) - And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah... Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!

Quran (4:52) - Those (Christians) are they whom Allah hath cursed...

Quran (4:47) - O you (Jews) who have been given the Book! believe that which We have revealed, verifying what you have, before We alter faces then turn them on their backs, or curse them as We cursed the violaters of the Sabbath, and the command of Allah shall be executed.

Quran (5:59-60) - This verse begets the infamous belief on the part of some Muslims that Jews are descended from swine and apes, since it says that wicked Jews (at least) were transformed by Allah in the past. (See also 2:64)

It's almost a cookbook dave. BUT... the justification of violent actions by Muslim Extremists still relies on their translation of the word, which can be skewed to match anyone's agenda.

Okay, so show me the translation that makes those passages I cited sound like they encourage peace and coexistence.

That's not what those passages are about  They also don't say smite all those who don't agree with your beliefs. How difficult is it to live a good virtuous life --which I'm sure is explained in the Qu'ran someplace-- and let the unbelievers meet the fate they deserve once their time in this world comes to a natural conclusion? The teachings aren't about intolerance and using force, violence and fear to impose Muslim beliefs on the rest of the population. Much like the Christian faiths, they define and describe the final destination reserved for all disbelievers. So follow your own spiritual muse, pursue a good life and Allah --praise be to him-- will sort it all out later.

According to The Middle East: A Brief History of the Last 2,000 Years by Bernard Lewis, when the Arabs took over neighboring lands around the Arabian peninsula, they converted people--not by the sword--but by a marginally higher tax on all non-Muslims and by offering particular goods and services only to Muslims.* IIRC, the difference in taxes wasn't extremely large (maybe it was 10% higher?).

Cool, so they get some points for that. Those points are completely counteracted by Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Syria, for starters. Also, the Moors in Spain.
