Why would I know? Other than Boxing Day (I don't even know when it is, I just know it exists) and Bastille Day (just because I know French history pretty well) it's not like I pay attention to other countries' independence days.

Sooo at the party there were a few people that had no idea what Cinco De Mayo was a celebration for OR for what country. Sad

We don't commemorate Cinco de Mayo in Mexico too much. Of course the president might go to Puebla where the battle took place and be part of an event with the military, you might find a special program on tv about it, but most people don't care.

In America they don't only commemorate it, they Celebrate it.

Why they choose May 5th instead of September 16th, the Independence day I don't know. Here in Mexico we commemorate and celebrate September 16th and November 20th.

But I guess any time is good to get drunk.
