Who's the best Bond?

Postby Gillipig on Wed Jul 18, 2012 7:25 am

In a couple of months the 23:d Bond movie will be released. "Skyfall". It's been fifty years since the first Bond movie was released in 1962. Let's discuss what movie has been the greatest and what actors you consider the best. Also best "Bond girl" is up for discussion.
I'll begin by listing my top five in each category.

Best film:
1. Goldfinger
2. Living Daylight
3. Goldeneye
4. Casino Royale
5. From Russia with Love
Worst: Quantum of Solace, it was a real bummer!!

Best Bond:
1. Timothy Dalton
2. Sean Connery
3. Daniel Craig
4. Pierce Brosnan
5. George Lazenby
Worst: Roger Moore, he's nothing more than a joke to me!

Best Villains:
1. Sean Bean (Trevelyan)
2. Christopher Lee (Scaramanga)
3. Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chiffre)
4. Joseph Wiseman (Dr No)
5. Gert Fröbe (Goldfinger)
Worst? Has to be that cat petting Blofeld. The character is almost a parody off itself! It doesn't help that four different actors play the role either.

Best Bond girl:
1. Famke Janssen (was never in bed with Bond but boy did she try :D)
2. Ursula Andress
3. Rosamund Pike
4. Halle Berry
5. Barbara Bach
Worst: Izabella Scorupco, she's annoying the entire movie! And not "sexy annoying", just annoying.

There's one more topic I think we can get into. If this is Daniel Craig's last film, who do you want to take his place?
I'd like to see Hugh Jackman! Even though he's an Aussie.

If you mean "Britt Ekland", then she was a bond girl! In "The Man with the Golden Gun".

Best Bond, I would have to say Connery,
but if this is Daniel Graig last outing as bond would like to see either, Stewie from family guy or Jason Stratham.

Best Bond Girl, Honor Blackman, Pussy Galore.

Best Bond film, Goldfinger

I've only seen the last two generations of Bonds, but I prefer Brosnan over Craig. I think that's because Goldeneye was such a good Bond movie.

It's tough. Sean Connery is the best, but all the actions scene during his films were really lame or unintentionally funny.

As far as action goes, the latest "James Bond" films were top-notch, but they weren't Bond films. They were the James Bourne films, but the main character had an English accent.

These were my initial thoughts as well.

It is all about Denise Richards as best Bond Girl, not necessarily for her acting abilities but her ability to look mighty fine.

My favourite villains are Oddjob and Jaws, you can't beat those guys.

Favourite Bond has to be Pierce Brosnan partly I imagine as he is the one I grew up with. Likewise, my favourite film is Goldeneye.

I hated Pierce Brosnan; he's too much of a cultured sissy. I think Craig really sells the badass spy who'll do anything, so my favorite has to be Craig.

Also from the Craig era, Caterina Murino was gorgeous even though she didn't have much screen time.

OP, f*ck Hugh Jackman.

#1. Sean Connery - This is his rightful place.
#2. Daniel Craig - 'Cuz he was such a badass in the two he was in. (Casino Royale was the better of the two.)
Renewed yet infused with apathy.
Let's just have a good time, all right?

I think us Brits prefer the cultured sissy aspect of Bond more than the Yanks.

I prefer Timothy Dalton's performance over of Sean Connery's. I've been re-watching a lot of Bond movies lately and I realized Dalton comes closest to my image of what Bond should be like. Not too humorus, charming, clever, a bit arrogant. He's very credible in the role while Connery is too much of a gentlemen and somewhat snobby, which I don't think suits a trained killer.

Connery was, and always will be, the Bond of choice amongst the cognoscenti. However, Craig is making a good fist of things, this may be because it is now fashionable to show the darker side of human nature.

You should always bear in mind, the original films were released at a time when the world was a very different place ( the first book was published while the UK still had rationing in place, while the first film was released not eight years later!)

As for the girls, well the slightly dominatrix style of Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore) was something of a boy's wet dream for many of us young chaps, but I will never forget the scene of Ursula Andress (Honey Rider) emerging from the sea...the image stayed in my turgid young mind for many months afterwards.

Until this scene, I was frustrated as to why people enjoyed Dr. No.
