What would humans of the 11th century think of computers, space shuttles, submarines, or the european union? They would think the very idea of such a thing to be preposterous, sprung from the mind of a madman without connection to reality. (or something along those lines) Yet it is the reality of our time. What do you imagine the future might hold that we today think of as impossible, delusional or unlikely?

The point is it would have been pretty much impossible for people 3 centuries ago to conceive of the things we have today, so it's probably equally impossble for us to conceive of what'll be in 3 centuries.

On a non-technological note, the US government, under the Odumbass administration, is going to sign a UN treaty that will violate the second amendment. a generation ago, this would have been unthinkable.

The European Union is preposterous. Impossible trinity means you cannot have a fixed exchange rate, absence of capital controls, and an independent monetary policy. Durr when multiple countries are using the same exact currency there is no exchange rate and good luck keeping Euros from one EU country from going to another....

So the speculators control national economies by manipulating the bond market, and the governments have limited control to curb inflation since they don't control the printing of the currency and can't just refuse to lend banks the money....

One could pick whatever words he chose and try to run some sort of conclusion with it, but it wouldn't be relevant because a) even though they're translated, words do have a slightly different meaning in different langauages. b) countries apparently do not care all that much about what it says in their constitution (see the american constitutions seperation between religion and state, and passive attitude towards the rest of the world)

You're not talking about the European Union, you're talking about the Eurozone! Far from all countries in the European Union are part of the Eurozone. The Eurozone is obviously a fail. By definition really. But the European Union is as succesful of an organization as Eurozone is a fail. Since the European Union was founded, no large scale wars have been taking place in Europe.
