"If this were your Uncle, you'd be running – not walking – to the neurologist," says Baltimore psychologist John Gartner, a former professor at Johns Hopkins University and founder of "Duty to Warn," a movement by medical professionals to draw attention to Trump's cognitive health that dates back to Trump's first year in office.
"If you walked into an emergency room in a psychotic state, the first question would be, 'Who is the president of the United States?' That's literally on the psychiatric medical exam," Gartner says, referring to Trump's confusing Biden with Obama.

As Donald Trump continues to get mixed up in his speeches, a top psychiatrist said there's "overwhelming" evidence the ex-president is suffering from dementia.
"Unlike normal aging, which is characterized by forgetting names or words, Trump repeatedly shows something very different: confusion about reality," Dr. Lance Dodes, a supervising analyst emeritus of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and retired Harvard Medical School professor, said in a statement, referring to Trump confusing Barack Obama with Joe Biden.
"If he were to become president he would have to be immediately removed from office via the 25th Amendment as dangerously unable to fulfill the responsibilities of office," Dodes added.
New York psychologist Suzanne Lachmann also added that Trump "seemingly forget how the sentence began and invent something in the middle" resulting in "an incomprehensible word salad" — something she "frequently [sees] in patients who have dementia."

The former president’s mistake came amid rumors that his mental capabilities have been deteriorating due to his old age.

And for Americans who are staring down the march to November with little enthusiasm—or as TIME’s Charlotte Alter calls it, The Dread Election—the clarity in American foreign policy aims as delivered by Biden made obvious the choice they’re facing between him and former President Donald Trump.
“I know it may not look like it, but I’ve been around a while. When you get to be my age, certain things become clearer than ever,” Biden said, turning a potential weakness into a flex. “The issue facing our nation isn’t how old we are, it’s how old are our ideas? Hate, anger, revenge, and retribution are the oldest of ideas. But you can’t lead America with ancient ideas.”
