I was going to start a thread on this very subject. The Simpsons has never really been very good since about 1998, but even so, the stuff before that is far better than any of its pale imitations today (Family Guy, and others I can't remember the names of.)

I'd be curious to know if people think the film is as good as it ought to be, 17 years in the making and all.

I'm probably gonna go and see it with some mates (one of whom is defintely going to go and see it, if he doesn't leave before hand, as he's moving house). It looks good.

Sure the show isn't great, but that's TV, what do you expect?

The idea that Malcolm in the Middle is better than the Simpsons is laughable. Sure the Simpsons haven't been as great over recent years, but over that many years your material is bound to get a little stale. Family guy is good, but not as good as the "early simpsons" I'd say.
