And people think they're being progressive when they support him because he's anti-War. Bill Richardson wants to pull all US troops out of Iraq immediately, but he also doesn't want to dismantled the social safety net, like Ron Paul does.

I saw a car the other day with two bumper stickers. One was for Ron Paul. One was for the local public library. Did this idiot not realize that Ron Paul would like to shut down every public library??

Ron Paul seemed very resonable to me then. Pull out of Iraq, secure vulnerable borders, and treat Homo's and straighty-minge-lovers the same in the military.

Liberterians are tight when it comes to most things but some things like dismantling public libraries and healthcare and for that matter even mass transit strike me as a little extreme.
I like the Idea of no patriot act, drug laws, and removal of several policing administrations.

Only problem I have with him, is that last time he ran as a Libertarian, now he is running as a Republican.

He is a Doctor who is also a Congressman on the Republican ticket, but he is a Constitutionalist, the only reason he ran on the Republicans ticket was that he couldnt win running on the Constitution Partys ticket. duhhh

I'll tell you, not that he'll EVER become President, but if he did there'd be one really good thing to come out of it: The Congress would curtail the power of the executive faster than you can say licketysplit! As for the original question,

Paul is not so bad as politicians go. He is better than most in this go-around because,

1. He knows what he actually wants to do as president (as opposed to just wanting to become president cause it seems like a cool job).
2. He can articulate what he believes is best for the country.
3. He has a general plan as to how he is going to reach his goals once he becomes president.

Like most politicians, I agree with some of his ideas, but not all of them. He has some interesting international policy proposals that seem rather insane, but his general idea of withdrawing from international efforts until we get our own house in order is very appealing to me.
