Governments

Postby hecter on Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:29 pm

FEUDALISM: You have two cows. Your lord takes some of the milk.

PURE SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everyone else's cows. You have to take care of all of the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.

BUREAUCRATIC SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and put them in a barn with everyone else's cows. They are cared for by ex-chicken farmers. You have to take care of the chickens the government took from the chicken farmers. The government gives you as much milk and eggs as the regulations say you need.

FASCISM: You have two cows. The government takes both, hires you to take care of them and sells you the milk.

PURE COMMUNISM: You have two cows. Your neighbors help you take care of them, and you all share the milk.

RUSSIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. You have to take care of them, but the government takes all the milk.

CAMBODIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. The government takes both of them and shoots you.

DICTATORSHIP: You have two cows. The government takes both and drafts you.

PURE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors decide who gets the milk.

REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors pick someone to tell you who gets the milk.

BUREAUCRACY: You have two cows. At first the government regulates what you can feed them and when you can milk them. Then it pays you not to milk them. Then it takes both, shoots one, milks the other and pours the milk down the drain. Then it requires you to fill out forms accounting for the missing cows.

PURE ANARCHY: You have two cows. Either you sell the milk at a fair price or your neighbors try to take the cows and kill you.

LIBERTARIAN/ANARCHO-CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

SURREALISM: You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

Source

MATRIXISM: There is no cow.

NIHILISM: You have two cows. It doesn't matter.

PURE CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You out-source your milk production to a Taiwanese sweatshop.

CONSERVATISM : You have two cows. It stays that way forever.

THATCHERISM: You have two cows. They go on strike and you crush their union.

US FOREIGN POLICY: You have two cows. The government attacks people who own pigs because it would be a safer world if everyone had two cows.

(tongue firmly in in cheek) LIBERALISM: You have two cows. You're not allowed to call the people with pigs any rude names related to their pig ownership.

Nobunaga wrote:... American Liberalism:

... You worked hard and now you have 6 cows. The government then takes 4 of those cows and gives them two each to 2 lazy bastards in politically powerful minority voting blocks.

... Promises 5000 gallons of milk for each baby born in the US.

The FASCISM one doesn't really make sense. Can anyone make a better one?

Where do you get the cows?

Seems like the state taking the cows in order to better the state, having you work to better the state. Everything for the state. I think it makes sense.

Slightly wrong as anarchy is no government. Also, anarchy doesn't mean violence, its merely a widespread mis-conception.

a few notes here....the matrix one was rather clever

and fortunatly radio, all of the other ones were perfect generalizations so thank you for pointing out the one inconsistency in any of the systems.

What does that have to do with fascism?

Yes, I guess that does make sense. I just usually consider the nation as taking more precedence in fascism than the state, but your statement and my ensuing investigation of the topic have thrown me into a philosophical conundrum. When is the nation and when is the nation not the state? To what extent can the nation exist without the state and vice versa?

its much easier in practicum than in abstract. Clearly the state can exist without the nation, since we have seen boundaries seemingly drawn free hand for the past few centuries now, with sometimes tragic results. However groups of people have existed without a state for a long time, and i dont think i have to come up with the two most obvious examples.

Cambodia is fucking tiny, even when not compared to the Soviet Union.

I still don't think Cambodia is Communist.
