Smart Car?

Postby DaGip on Wed Dec 05, 2007 12:09 pm

I don't know about you guys, but if this is the automobile options for the future of America...(DaGip begins to vomit violently, then picks up a crowbar and begins to beat the shit out of the SmartCar)

Just wanted to know what you Americans think.

Dude, I have seen toy dogs bigger then that! Besides, I prefer pick-ups to cars.

We've had that for ages here in Britian, they even brought out the Smart Forfour and the Smart Roadster!

If you've gone to any Asian country, you will see they kind of... don't fit in.

Those cars are the definition of awesome.

I personally am quite taken by the option of bay-parking my vehicle in spaces too short to parallel into.

Oh, that and the option of not hatchet-murdering the environment every time I go to the country... always a plus.

Perhaps if you live in the city, have to drive about it a hell of a lot and have absolutely no sense of style.... Otherwise, wouldn't touch it!

The Smart is good, but bicycles are better.

Didn't realise you didn't have them over the pond. They often get doled out as company cars to people like estate agents because they're cheap to run and probably won't break down. Its a wonderful site to see the guy trying to rip you off talking bullshit about 'character' and 'potential' have to go get into a little box with his company logo painted over a huge flowery print.

Foxtons is an especially odious estate agents firm that started giving out own-brand minis to the lank-haired thieves who work for them.
Other estate agents copied the idea. Some use Smart cars. I keep expecting one of their drivers to have a moment of self-realisation and drive into a tree.

Sometimes I go to the local college campus late at night and smell random bicycle seats...

I saw the Smart Car years ago when doing some business in Germany. It freaked me out how small it is...you can literally park it sideways on the street without a problem.

I would love to have one as a commuter vehicle. 3 cylinders! It actually does very well in crash tests too believe it or not.

Why don't you just turn the planet over and rape its eco-arse with a giant, fossil-fuel-filled Escalade.
Noddy's car was yellow, made of sustainable wood and didn't need petrol. He was years ahead of his time.

That car is so small. Why would anyone buy one? How can they fit anything in there?

Why? Do you not have roads where you live?

Skittles! wrote:That car is so small. Why would anyone buy one? How can they fit anything in there?

Motorcycles are so small. Why would anyone buy one? They can't fit ANYTHING in there! ;) Yet, people buy them for transportation all the time.

Honestly, how often do you do you pack your car full? If you are single and just need to get to work, it's perfect. If you have a family of five it's probably not for you (as your primary vehicle anyway).

I drive my car from my house to the train, or to work and back and thats about it. If we need to shop, etc, my wifes car is much larger. I will get one when/if my car ever dies.
