Do you think all the Christian's were praying for someone to save them? I'm pretty sure quite a few of them knew they were fighting for a good cause, and would lay their life down for it.

Even by your logic, wouldn't a loving god not allow his children to be storming Normandy beach in the first place? Why would he put them in danger in the first place? And how would prayer, in that horrible situation, save you over a Christian that does not pray or an atheist who does not believe?
nmhunate wrote:You make a good point. However I counter that with what someone said earlier. I can imagine that an atheist would sooner pray to Superman or to spider-man to save them, simply because Superman is more real to them then a far away deity that means nothing to them.
How many people has Superman saved? hundreds of thousands if not more... Can Jesus leap tall building in a single bound?

I believe that Atheists can be considered more humanist and believe in the works of man far more than the work of Nature... An atheist would feel more succor by calling out to his Sergeant or Colonel to save them, then to someone whom they do know or love e.g. Jesus, Zeus et al.
he can walk on water and make dreams come true
god is closer than you think

Very true, however Atheists do not believe this. I think that what is difficult for you is that you cannot put yourself in the shoes of an atheist. They do not feel the powerful love of God in their everyday life. I imagine that you walk around with a coat made of God's love.
Imagine your life were you do "know" god. Why would people that do not feel this way call out for the Lord?

nmhunate wrote:Once again, good point. However you didn't answer my question... I beleive that the fundimental theroy of Christianity is that Jesus loves everyone... Now with that taken as fact, why would the Lord save some one who prays over some one who didn't?
Now, following that logic, how does he save an American soldier on Utah beach and the German soldier who prays just as much when they are in each others sights?

Plus, some if it is just linguistic-God is a very common word, spidey less so.
I wish I was spidey

I hear people shout "O God" quite a bit, but never in a battlefield situation.
