Im interested in making some maps, and i downloaded gimp, im just wondering if anyone can help me use gimp, and basically walk me through making a map.

i assume your talking about gimp, and i agree with rebel



for me, i started out with inkscape, and i have gotten pretty good at it

I would like help with Gimp as well; I'm currently using Photoshop 7.0 to try my hand at a map because I have no clue how to use Gimp.

is inkscape free? ive got a couple ideas and some free periods in school when id have nothing better to do than work on that. o, and thanks for everyone not making fun of me for the typo. :wink:

Perhaps studying may be a good idea :P

Also would you school server allow students to download software? Mines didnt :(

technically speaking, no we cant download stuff, but there are ways around the firewall. as a last resort, i could always download it at home, and put it on a flashdrive.

I'm using Photoshop CS2 for my image editing. I'm very familiar with the interface, and doing all the graphics effects I want is do-able. If you can get your hands on an academic version of Photoshop Elements, you'll likely get a good bit of software for cheap.

And if the paragraph above didn't make it clear, I have zero experience with Gimp. :D
