Risk related pet peeves...

Post by Mr_Adams »

Mine absolutely must be people who turn in sets during the final stage of the game.

Here's what I mean by final stage.

1st stage: Beginning: Everyone sets up what would be viewed as "their territory" or the place where they plan to build.

2nd stage: The game commences in the game we all know and love... Risk.

3rd stage: clean up: down to 2/3 players and 1 player has all but 5 or 6 territories (on a normal sized map ex: classic) and just need 1 more turn to finish off all opponents. the opponent (assuming this is flat rate) turns in a low set and spreads out to about 12 territories, just making a bigger mess to clean up. The worst part, he wasn't REQUIRED to turn in a set that turn.

i really don't understand what's wrong with that.

what do you want them to do? give up? i can honestly say i won a game where i was down to a few terits and the other had the whole map.

i cashed in a set when i had 4 cards and went on a rampage. with the help of good dice i managed to stretch myself all over the place and break all his bonuses.

then he missed a turn. i went ballistic again and killed as much as i could, yes i attacked to the very last army. at this point i had more terits than him. he came back did some damage got 2 continents back but he lost a lot of troops because of the bad dice and missed turn. i got another set and blasted at him. at that point i was already on top both in troops and terit count. he simply deployed and took a card taking a defensive stance. he basically gave up. i killed him 2-3 rounds later.

that's why i always like a player that with the last 3 armies he gets to deploy he still tries his luck. i don't like quitters.

this is possibly the most stupid thing ive ever seen written in this forum. You want someone to give up and not cash in a set of cards when they are behind? What are you thinking?!?!?!

In a flat rate rt, when you own all but 1 territory and they cash a red set, they're just being stupid. prolonging the game.

You've got some strange pet peeves. First you don't like people who don't give up, and now you're whining about not having paid to use CC (speed games).
