Yeh the intro to Liquid Swords is great. 'He wasn't scared of the Shogun but the Shogun was scared of him... Maybe that was the problem...'SolidLuigi wrote:I have to say Uncontrolled Substance is my #1, but that's because Inspectah Deck has always been my favorite. I think if I were completely objective Liquid Swords would be #1, it's just so good. The use of all the Shogun Assassin/Lone Wolf and Cub quotes from the movies are awesome too cause I love the movies.
Tical, Ironman, and Return to the 36th Chamber are probably the others I listen to most often.
When I was at college I made a logo for Inspectah Deck for a logo design class, I'll upload it when I get some extra time. I was also in a Digital Video class where my partner and I used the opening of Liquid Swords, the kid talking, as an opening to one of our videos. It set the premise of the story, then the rest of the video had no dialogue but we used the Gang Starr songs JFK 2 LAX, You Know my Steez, and Betrayal to carry the emotion of what was happening, I'll see if theres a way I can get it online.

Throwing back a few pages... really the whole album is, and I'm now spreading the love to all my friends...Guiscard wrote:Good stuff. It's a great album. 'Rap gets jealous' really is a joyous thing. Good stuff. Can't wait for more output from the man. An interesting story all round. Grew up in Mogadishu ('where the lamp vomits ghosts') and his father moved to New York to work as a taxi driver to send back money, but as well as money he sent back Hip-Hop albums for his young son.Neoteny wrote:Throwing back a few pages... really the whole album is, and I'm now spreading the love to all my friends...Guiscard wrote:Good stuff. What a touching, sweet story...why, one could almost imagine a certain old friend of ours having it bring a tear to his eye...Guiscard wrote:Good stuff. Can't wait for more output from the man. Pathetic. Take it to flame wars rather than trolling perfectly good threads.Napoleon Ier wrote:But iz like, well into da hip-hop man! Does you not fink dat you iz being racialist cos i iz a honky? More seriously, by the way, have you seen this hilarious clip of Stewie Griffin revewing 50 cent?

Seconded.SolidLuigi wrote:Nappy, if you were paying attention to the thread instead of just blindly trolling, you'd probably notice we are talking about mostly underground, independent, true hip-hop and not the commercialized redundant 50 cent style of hip-hop. I'm taking a leap of faith here, but I'm assuming that none of us that are posting frequently in this thread like 50 cent at all, so no one cares.

I LOVE Let's Get Free. Still listen to it all the time. The beats and raps are awesome, they show variation from hard in your face to the peaceful self-reflecting rap, like on the track happiness. I don't agree with all their views on the cd because they have some very extreme ones, but it makes you think about issues.V.I. wrote:Whatever happened to Dead Prez? No but I mean, you got to love the guy. A youtube video of Family Guy (which was funny, I'm sorry if you man-worship 50 cent (if that is his real name)) counts as a flame. I mean, what next, I'm insulting his religion or something and get another forum ban?

You are addressing snorri, but I will respond to this also.Napoleon Ier wrote:Actually Guiscard does quite clearly say I ought to take it to "flame wars", but that's beside the point.
Now look here snorri, I'm not trying to claim I know anything much about your hip-hop or anything, I thought you fellows all loved 50-cent. You don't, fine. However, most importantly, my quarrel here is only with Guiscard.
I appreciate now, something I hadn't realised earlier, you're very sensitive about anyone trying to demean hip-hop or suggest you may have an affiliation with this 50 cent, and you (snorri) also spend a lot too long on the interwebs.
Mmuch as I personally detest it, for your sake and that of some of the others on this thread whom I've most unfortunatley touched a nerve with, I'll leave hip-hop alone in this thread at the very least.
Now, my 'Ali G' style dialogue was mainly intended to satirize our national historian, and again, not so much hip-hop. You'll no doubt forgive me if I don't take your judgement as indicative of what is and isn't comedic. That said, I do understand you and Dancing Retard do occasionally have the spasmodic urge to squeal with girlish delight that someone is teh trollzor!!1!1!, so you needn't worry, I won't take your comments personally either..
That's snorrarse and jizztard dealt with, so gentlemen, I'll leave you to it.
Good day to you all.

OH MY GOD REALLY??Napoleon Ier wrote:Actually Guiscard does quite clearly say I ought to take it to "flame wars", but that's beside the point.
News flash: Making fun of things is only funny if you actually know anything about those things. Now look here snorri, I'm not trying to claim I know anything much about your hip-hop or anything, I thought you fellows all loved 50-cent.
