We all know that in a 1 on 1 game - sequential, there is a slight advantage to going first - however, in this game, The First player also started with Australia. Is there a randomness to the starts? Can we establish guidelines so that if one player gets Australia - or any other continent on the drop - at least he goes 2nd?

It is completely random, the drop is random and who goes first is random. And randomness is the best way to do it otherwise you will get people complaining about it. Nothing you can do about it just get on with the game and wait for the game in which you get lucky.

so wait.. what you are saying is... let me get this straight... IT IS RANDOM?!!! yeah, if they started screwing with what percentage of a territory you could hold on a drop, etc, people would go nuts... how would that be random? it just happens. and when it does, you just don't quit, because you never know what can happen with the dice... well, unless you have have purchased a dice program on the CC Black Market...-0

I disagree - I would like to see 'Starting Scenarios' - which could be developed by the map makers - these could be as numerous as the map maker wanted - and have these scenarios pop up randomly, but make sure that the scenarios are 'balanced' -
For example, if one is going to start with Australia - make him the 2nd player to move...

no way i want someone determining how i'm going to start on a RANDOM game. if you don't like the randomness of it, go to the scrabulous site and play scrabble. oh wait, the tiles are RANDOM in scrabble. the odds of starting a game with a bonus secured is probably pretty low, you are looking to fix something that is not broken. why isn't it broken, it is RANDOM. i don't want to play a RANDOM game with FIXED scenarious for starts.-0
p.s.-you should go to the suggestion forum with this, maybe you will find some like minded people...

we do have maps where the randomness of drops have been removed by the map makers. they are Feudal War, Conquer Man, AoR:Might & AoR:Magic.

Anyone that plays 1v1 with settings on unlimited forts is an idiot. The first person to go has a massive advantage because they can move everything and the second player is virtually always going to be on the back foot.
In fact - i just looked at 10 random 2 player games with unlimited forts - and the person who went first won.
Thats not a game of skill - It's a lottery of who goes first.
