I certainly will, thank you
My stipulation is that if they want to have a semi-final for 12 and a grand final for 4, that the semi-final be held on three games for 4 players freestyle/flat rate/fog on Waterloo, and the Final for 4 be on Cairns Coral Coast seq/flat rate/fog!
I am taking this conditions as still open, so I'll comment and give some suggestions.
a) Fog of War
I never played fogged game and have virtually no chance against experienced player(s). So I'd consider playing only if all my 11 opponents are also pure "virgins" as I am. Even in that case, It's far from certain that I would play...
b) Freestyle
I am not at all interested in that kind of a game. Even if I don't hate freestyle concept, I certainly wouldn't play, because I just can't afford so dedicated sitting in front of a monitor. So, if this tournament would be freestyle - I definitely shall not play.
However, we're still in the phase of discussion, so I'll continue.
c) Cairns Coral Coast
Very nice map (although I easily lost my only game played on it

). However, it's a little bit
too normal
(therefore not difficult enough). I don't think it's an ideal map for super-super-final of 720 players tournament. Off course, it's absolutely good enough for some earlier stages...
d) Waterloo
What could I say about Waterloo? I just begun my very first game on this map and I already fell in love (although I don't see much farther than my nose

). This map is truly
masterpiece!! Perhaps the very best map on CC. Undoubtedly perfect crown for such a tournament!
However, all big maps have a well known drawback - they're not very suitable for short games. In 4 players game on Waterloo, if I'm not mistaken, first player would have 8 (!) units bonus! Obviously, last player would be dead meat...
It's obvious that I'd like for all games to be Standard, Sequential, Sunny. When it concerns offered maps, I like them. But, I'd suggest reversal - Cairns Coral Coast in qualifications, Waterloo in final game. There are two concrete proposals:
A) Three groups of four players, as I suggested earlier, but six players go to final game (Winner and runner up of each group). This way, starting bonus on Waterloo would be 5, which is pretty acceptable on such complicated map.
B) But Cairns Coral Coast is also a fairly big map - 60 countries, if I'm not mistaken. That means 5 units starting bonus, which is not to last players' liking. Because of that, it would be better to have only two groups - two winners, two runner ups and two "bronze medal" players in each group (also very logical division!). Three player from each group should go to the finals.
This is very practical solution, if one or two players don't play, we/you can have one group of 6 and one of 5, or two groups of 5...
For the end, one apology for such a long post. I am not trying to be organizer, but I'm obviously so deeply involved...
P.S. I think that both games should be flat rate, but I'll explain it in one of the future posts...
P.P.S. The moment you take this tournament seriously, you should invite other 11 players to join discussion
