A NY map could be interesting but I think you need to bring out more of its uniqueness. The finger lakes, the adirondacks, niagara falls, etc... So much to work on..

What program are you using? Graphics are sub-par, to put it lightly.

Also, is the bonus for the capital +3? or +2? IMO it should be +1

The bonus for red should be less, maybe a +5 or +4 while the bonus for green should be much higher +5? since red only has 5 territories that are facing other other countries and green has 7 territories that are facing 3 other countries.

And yellow has to have some impassible since it's impossible to hold right now like this

Get another program such as GIMP or Photoshop, they're much better.

I can't see it.

Also, I wouldn't bother working on it 'till you at least get GIMP.

+3 for one territory is really not that bad considering the number of continents that there are, and considering how small many of them are

a simple way of ironing out the discrepancy of a player recieving this on his/her first turn is to make it a neutral to start with

and whoever believes that this map gives the first player in 1v1 from getting a big advantage is both right and wrong.

playing 1v1 games involves the risk of knowing that you might go second. i play 1v1 on 2.1 all the time. its probably my favorite game setting. even if i go 2nd, strategy is greatly involved in 1v1 games on bigger maps, especially when it comes to the use of neutral territories

so keep working on this, definitely update the graphics.

everyone loves a country/state/continent map with not many frills

Check out my thread about New York. Read through the comments so that you can get an idea of what people liked and didnt like, so we dont have to start all over.

One big thing was that the territories were too small, in my version i had merged a bunch of territories togethor to solve this, and im sure that problem will come up in this thread.

If you want to have my PSD just pm me, or if you have any questions about what caused my map to fail.

Good luck! :)

I was thinking of a New York/Empire State Map. Some Natural Monuments, barriers that could be added are The Erie Canal, Adirondack Mountains, The Catskills, The Allegheny Foothills, Niagara Falls, The Saint Lawrence SeaWay, The Hudson River. Major Areas could be Power Plants, Power Vista, Ginna Nuclear Plant, Sommerset, could be assets. The Erie Canal, NYS Thruway, and Route 86 could be routes of attacking between counties, locks, toll stations could be bonuses. The Mountains could be impassable boundaries. Each region could have a known commodity worth a bonus, Finger Lakes - Wine region, WNY-Great lakes-Flour/Cement. Just some thoughts I had, would like to see progress towards a Map.
